How safe are my videos with Fliqz?
Hi there,
I am currently exploring ways to include video in pbWorks and Fliqz seems to be the best method so far. However, how safe are they?
When I upload a video, it goes to Fliqz and get converted to FLV, and streams back to my plugin in pbWorks. The original and FLV is hosted in Fliqz. Who else have access to it?
My students will be creating videos for their assignments and I don't want it to show up in some Fliqz site similar to Youtube where everyone have access to it.
Any advice?

Inappropriate?Hello Domo,
If that is the case, I think you should upload your videos directly to our servers. We support most major video types like ."avi", ".mpeg" and ".wmv". if you're really interested I recommend Camtasia or Jing for recording, editing and encoding. Both of these offer a free 30 day trial, here is a link:

I hope this helps, take care!

Inappropriate?Hi Domo,
I just want to add a little to Julian's great answer. I've worked a little with the Fliqz people. Your question was about how safe they are.
They are as safe as you allow them to be as far as privacy is concerned. When you upload to Fliqz using our plugin, Fliqz does not broadcast or display the link to your video in public. However, if you were to post the video in a public page, you are the one broadcasting it. The only real drawback is that you'll have to contact Fliqz support in order to have the video removed from their servers. You can work around that by signing up for a free Fliqz.com account which allows you to control the privacy settings of any videos you upload and also delete any uploaded video.
Julian's advice is best if you want hands on control of the video file. Uploading the file to your workspace offers you the best privacy protection, You can display the uploaded file as a file link in a page but if you need to embed it in the page, you may need to add some Flash embed coding to the page by pasting it into our HTML plugin.
That can get complicated, but somewhere I saw a nice online tool to help you generate the embed codes ... where was that?
Ahhh .. here it is.

Here's some more advice if you want to upload the file to your workspace:

I tried the tool I recommended earlier and it didn't work for me. I ended up using a Google Gadget instead. -
Which Google Gadget did you use? -
Inappropriate?http://vzaar.com has a privacy feature.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure you can share a private video at VZAAR. It looks like you have to be logged in as the video's owner in order to view it.
Here's what they say in the FAQ:
Video Privacy
When you upload a video to vzaar you can choose to make it private or public. By making it private, only you will be able to see the video on vzaar. By making it public means that the video will be made public on vzaar for everyone to see. -
Private videos on vzaar can be seen only by you on the vzaar site. You can still embed the video where ever you choose. -
Thanks for clearing that up Adrian.
