We're definitely going to think about the whole schedule for next year, both horizontally (panels per session) and vertically (sessions per day). One hates to say no to any good idea that some members of the community are going to be interested in; the question is how do make these decisions in a fair way. But, I mean, you're never going to be able to see everything you want live -- that's (in part) why the video is there.
On moderators: we are talking about ways to guide and/or train moderators in the future. Each panel may lend itself to a different feel, but there are general guidelines worth sharing.

That's the problem: food -- especially hot food -- costs money. And in terms of entertainment, we relied on the LL comedians during the events and the sponsored parties thereafter.
In terms of big names for Saturday night, one thing I don't think was mentioned before is that all Democratic Senators were away for a retreat that weekend. This was scheduled after we booked our weekend, and it did restrict our options some.

We can absolutely do more. I am glad we had prominent platforms for Nancy Pelosi and Donna Edwards, and that we had the number of female moderators and speakers that we did, but we need to work more closely with our moderators to afford our platforms to the full diversity of this community. Please keep after us on this.-

A comment on the question "What happened to the schedule on Saturday night?" in Netroots Nation:
I think Nolan pretty accurately covers things. The other thing that I'd add is that we need to consider whether that triple-deck of panels on Saturday afternoon was just too much for people to realistically attend on the third day of a conference (and after a big morning event) and then *also* expect them to attend a nighttime event. Had we concluded the panels in the 4:30-5p range and started the Saturday night function at 7p, that might have worked better. Let us know. – Adam, on July 21, 2008 13:34
