Mac OS X uses something called URL Handlers. So any application can register as a handler for mailto: links. It is relatively trivial for a cocoa app, but Postbox is based on the mozilla frameworks, maybe they could see how Thunderbird did it? – Adam Hitchcock, on December 07, 2009 18:41

It does! Currently I am searching a database of congressional twitter users. If your rep uses twitter it will include it. Check out 23188 for an example.

mbond's reply to "Better OS Integration" was just promoted to the most useful! Adam Hitchcock and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.

They need to support apple script properly before these will work.

Part of the issue is that those applications don't check to see what your default mail application is, they just assume Mail.App and have apple script hard-coded for mail.app.

Regardless, for one application to talk to another (properly) on OS X they need to get apple script working.

More and more i'm hoping they address this issue before a 1.0 release.

iPhoto integration

The thing currently keeping me from using postbox is that it integrates with flickr well, but i use iPhoto for my pictures. I need a media browser akin to that used in the iLife apps
