Alain Wong replied on November 12, 2009 19:43 to the question "How Does The Rankings Page Work?" in Akoha:
Under the current usage, you're right - there isn't much difference between the two lists. It would appear more different if there were significant changes week to week between the people with the most Karma points.
A more accurate label would be "Top Players Ranking (this past week)" instead of Top Players This Week.
Again, I apologize for the confusion. We're reviewing the system and it we'll make sure that it's clearer in the future :)
Alain Wong replied on November 12, 2009 15:38 to the question "How Does The Rankings Page Work?" in Akoha:
Hi Aurora,
Top Players This Week actually reflects Karma totals seven days ago. So it gives a snapshot of the people with the top Karma points in the last week. It is very similar to the ranking on the left side, "Karma" which is current Karma points.
We are currently reviewing the points system - you'll definitely get notified when we improve it :)
Sorry for the confusion!

Hi Aurora,
You can find the help page here:
http://community.akoha.com/help/faq/
I've included the answer to your question below.
In the topic: What about this site? > How do leaderboards work?
"Leaderboards are tables that allow you to see how other people are playing Akoha.
Karma – users with the most karma points.
Top players this week – Players who earned the most karma points last week
Friends – Karma leaderboard that includes you and your friends
Akoha Newcomers – Players with the most karma points who have joined Akoha in the last 7 days
Longest Missions – Missions with the most hops
Most Popular Mission Card – Missions with the highest numbers of confirmations
All leaderboards are updated at fifteen minute intervals."
As for "Most Interesting Cards", the score reflects a variety of factors (ie. recent play, attached media and story, comments posted, "hearts" and hops). In essence, interest is reflected by the amount of activity associated with a particular card.
Hope that helps!
Alain
Alain Wong replied on November 04, 2009 19:07 to the problem "Without a city!" in Akoha:
Hi Rosemary,
There is indeed a bug. At the moment, you can either add your postal code, or your city.
The workaround at the moment is this: add your city without the postal code.
"Montreal, QC, Canada"
Let me know if this works, and sorry for the confusion. I've passed on this issue to our dev team.
Thanks!
Alain Wong replied on November 02, 2009 17:35 to the question "Printing Out A Played Card & Whether The Card Needs To Be Printed To Be Confirmed" in Akoha:
Hi Aurora,
There are currently two ways to play a mission: by giving a card (real or printed) or by playing it through email.
1. Physically play the mission card to a person while completing a mission
In this case, you give the card or printed version of the card while playing the mission. That mission is complete. The receiver of the mission card can then confirm the mission. Afterwards, the receiver can play it forward by using the mission card and giving it to someone else.
2. You can also play a mission virtually by clicking on "I've played this mission".
In this case, you would play out the mission (for example Invite Someone For Coffee), and afterwards log into Akoha and click on "I've played this mission". You'll be asked to fill in details. Once you've entered the email of the person you've played with, this person will receive an email with which they can confirm the mission. Afterwards, they can sign up and print the mission themselves in order to play it forward.
So to answer your first question: you do not need to print out a mission. Currently, the system does not allow you to print a mission after you've played it, but the receiver of the mission can print it out once they've logged in, in order to play it themselves.
To answer your second question, we encourage you to hand over the card (real or printed) because it's fun. However, you can also play it virtually by clicking on "I've played this mission" and entering the receiving person's email. This will automatically send them a confirmation link, and they will be able to confirm that the mission was played.
We are in the process of improving the flow of play, so I'm glad you asked this question. Let me know if I've answered your question, and feel free to reach out. Feedback is always welcome :)
Cheers!

Alain Wong replied on October 28, 2009 18:27 to the problem "Feedback form forces forward to Akoha's store without warning." in Akoha:
Nostra,
Thanks for bringing this up - it's not our intention to mislead you in any way without warning.
I've investigated the issue, and the culprit is the Get Satisfaction Feedback Widget, which is what we have been using on the website. I was able to reproduce this issue in IE 7 and 8.
What happens: when the Feedback form pops up, you start giving feedback in the "text box". The form acts as if it were "transparent". In this case, there's a link on the page saying "Order a new deck" behind the form at http://akoha.com/home/, and you are inadvertently clicking that link because of the Get Satisfaction bug.
I've contacted them so that they can fix this bug.
Alain Wong marked one of DSaucke's replies in Akoha as useful. DSaucke replied to the problem "Mission recipient unable to create Akoha account".
Alain Wong reported a problem in Get Satisfaction on October 28, 2009 18:16:
Problem with Feedback Widget, clickthrough textboxProblem with Feedback Widget. In IE 7 & IE 8, you can click through the text box with your mouse.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open IE 7 or IE 8
2. Go to http://akoha.com
3. Click on feedback widget on right-hand side
4. Inside the Idea box text field, move mouse around - you'll see that you can click a link that's on the webpage instead of the widget.
Thanks!

Hi !
That is indeed frustrating. Our development team is looking at this bug now, and I'll let you know as soon as it's resolved. In order to help us, could you send me the image you are trying to upload, as well as your username, to support@akoha.com?
Thanks!
