Hi Zork!
We're currently looking at different approaches in order to improve the address book integration. Skype's approach is definitely up there.
Thanks for contributing!

Hi rej123,
I sincerely apologize for the wait.
You're able to delete Rebtel contacts and not have them show up under the contacts view in the app. You do this by simply deleting the corresponding Rebtel number in your regular iPhone address book.
Although, as you already pointed out, the feature of deleting the contact from both your phone as well as your Rebtel account in the web is missing. Very good point and such an elementary feature should definitely be there.
Thanks!

Alexander Drewniak marked one of Nick's replies in Rebtel as useful. Nick replied to the question "Rate to Tanzania".
A comment on the idea "Features In Future Version of Rebtel iPhone App" in Rebtel:
Sorry for not addressing that question in my previous response.
It's interesting that you say most people don't store their international numbers in an international format. When were developing the app we actually found that most people do. Simply because that format is prerequisite for you being able to call or text that number.
Having that said, I still see us potentially adding that feature as it would most probably make the user experience more seamless.
Thanks again!

This would definitely be a killer feature. Although, we would probably look to further automate the entire process of making a Free Call. – Alexander Drewniak, on November 16, 2009 10:54

Hi there Bilal!
The keypad is not optimal if you look to make one-off double dial calls to contacts on your phone but don't want to save them as Rebtel contacts.
The contacts view and keypad was built on the user scenario assumption of you using the contacts view to add, call and access contacts that you have in your address book whilst you can use the keypad view to make one-off calls to people that are not in your address.
Thanks for your feedback!

Alexander Drewniak replied on November 10, 2009 13:09 to the problem "iPhone app interrupted my rebtel usage? Help! Can't make calls." in Rebtel:
We've managed to identify the source of this problem. Your account thinks that all of your calls are Free Calls and the system waits for someone to join in. This obviously doesn't happen because you have no way of telling the person on the other end to call back and connect to the call.
All that has to be done is a simple reset of your account. Please send your registred Rebtel number to iphonesupport@rebtel.com and I'll make sure your account is reset immediately.
Very best,
Alex

Hi there SW,
Thanks for downloading our new app!
Are you able to make any calls at all using Rebtel?
Send us an email on iphonesupport@rebtel.com with your account details, the firmware you're running on your iPhone and your iPhone model. Also, please specifiy whether or not your iPhone has been jailbreaked.
Best,
Alex
Alexander Drewniak replied on November 04, 2009 15:53 to the problem "iPhone app '+' problem" in Rebtel:
Hi again Edoardo,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
Is this scenario correct?
1. You open the app
2. Tap on the Contacts tab
3. Tap on an existing contact to call them
4. Call fails because there's a "+" added in front of the number
If this scenarios is correct, please send us an email to iphonesupport@rebtel.com together with details on what iPhone model you have, what firmware you're running and whether or not your phone has been jailbreaked.
Once I have an answer to this problem I'll post it in this thread for everyone else to see.
Thanks!

Hi there Edoardo,
Thanks for the nice words and for downloading our app!
Just to be sure, you're referring to when you add a new contact from your iPhone address book by tapping on the "+"-sign in the top right corner, correct?
If I understood your problem correctly, what kind of number is it that you're trying to add and how is it entered in your address book?
Best,
Alex
A comment on the idea "Features In Future Version of Rebtel iPhone App" in Rebtel:
Contact importing/syncing or whatever you wish to call is a bit of a difficult nut to crack. The problem lies in that the address book of your mobile phone is usually considered by most people to be the most valued piece of information on your device. Hence, from the perspective of an app developer, you really want to tamper with it as little as possible to minimize the risk of spoiling it in any way.
Having that said, the contact importing process is a very vital part of the app and it's definitely one that we're looking to improve. It can get a lot better. Good point, S Ribbon.
WiFi capability is also something that makes sense for a future version. To name one, it solves the issue of having to buy a new SIM card when you're out traveling and want to call home with Rebtel.

That's a solid suggestions, thanks mwretund.
When Facebook launched Facebook Connect we were all over it much due to what you just mentioned. We were very excited about the possible opportunity of allowing our users to import all their friends with international numbers from Facebook and automatically generate local numbers for them.
Unfortunantely, as it turned out, the API does not allow you access to this information (email and phone numbers) as a third party using Facebook Connect.
Should Facebook take a turn (for the better) on this we will surely have a look at it.
Thanks!

Thanks for the input Abdul!
As a matter of fact, you can already add, edit and delete your contacts right from your iPhone.
Thanks!
