Alfgar marked one of Albert's replies in Topaz Labs as useful. Albert replied to the problem "Bad crash with Simplify 2 Upgrade for Mac". Alfgar and 2 other people think it's one of the best replies.
A comment on the question "Thanks for the upgrade...kinda!" in Topaz Labs:
Albert,
Thank you and the TopazLabs team for this quick turnaround. I confirm the patch fixed the issue (and was able to turn multi-processor support back on as well).
Best regards! – Alfgar, on April 25, 2009 21:13

Hey - sorry - should have just posted one topic. Kinda stupid to give the link anyways when I then go "but there's a problem". Anyways. Thanks for your help. – Alfgar, on April 25, 2009 18:31

Thanks Albert. I have dumps if you need, but this is reasonably easy to reproduce. (contact me at the e-mail addy on my account if you need/want - I'll be happy to try out a patch too) – Alfgar, on April 25, 2009 18:30

This might help you.

Didn't for me, but you seem to be on a PC and did the upgrade a while back. We just received it for Mac. Kinda wishing we hadn't.
Good luck.
Alfgar reported a problem in Topaz Labs on April 25, 2009 08:55:
Bad crash with Simplify 2 Upgrade for MacI upgraded Topaz Adjust to version 3 a week back and everything worked fine with it (though, funny enough, it never asked for me to enter the upgrade key).
I upgraded Simplify to version 2 just now. Had to enter the key for Simplify, works. Great. Go back to filters to launch Adjust 3 -> Photoshop crashes ("procEngine: error code: -1000")
Relaunched Photoshop, tried things in reverse: running Adjust 3 first - this time it asked me for the license key (funny, after a full week without asking), so I enter it, run the filter. Works. Fine. Launch Simplify 2 -> Photoshop crashes ("bad parameter")
Re-launched Photoshop again... tried various orders of launching the plugins one after another. It seems that as soon as I use either Adjust 3 or Simplify 2, the other filter is then destined to crash Photoshop if I launch it, either with "bad parameter", "procEngine: error code: -1000" or simply, Photoshop closes.
I'm using CS3 on Mac OSX 10.5.6.
Can't post memory dump here (crashes the post call), but e-mailed that to err... your sales address (in reply to license key e-mail)
I did look around here and disabled multi-processor support - did not solve the issue.
I was working with a 300px x 300px image and my machine has 32GB RAM (9 free at the time I ran those tests) - this is not a lack of memory issue.
No... This, is really a problem. The error happens by SIMPLY loading the plugin: I go in, launch Adjust 3 click "cancel", then go launch Simplify 2 and watch Photoshop go "poof".
I hope you guys can fix this really quick - this is truly crippling and quite disappointing.
Thanks!

HERE: Simplify v2 Licence key URLSimplify Licence key URL: http://www.topazlabs.com/simplify2key... (instead of the accidental simplify3key.php) link provided (oops)
However beware: crashes Photoshop for me (see other post)!
Alfgar replied on April 25, 2009 08:39 to the question "Thanks for the upgrade...kinda!" in Topaz Labs:
Yeah - Look at the URL: is says somethign like "simplify3..." - I changed to "simplify2..." and it got me there (oopse)
However, I might recommend you do not install the upgrade. I can no longer use either Adjust or Simplify: using one of them will cause Photoshop to crash as soo as I try to launch the other one!!!
