alfred replied on November 25, 2009 00:11 to the problem "Songbird hangs and refuses to import my music (Ubuntu 9.10)" in Songbird:
MockY, could you please try to run Songbird in safe-mode or create a new profile? Sometimes certain addons or profile settings can cause problem. Please refer to the first aid help on how to do that. Also, there is one FAQ in the first aid doc for Songbird fails to load on Ubuntu Linux you might want to check too.
BTW, if you start Songbird from terminal, is there any error message?
alfred replied on November 24, 2009 15:42 to the question "sansa e260 won't synch with Songbird 1.2" in Songbird:
ashiko, I assume that you were using MTP addon for connecting to the Sansa e260 device. Could you confirm whether you also update the MTP addon? The addon for build 1335 could be found here.
Other than that, you might also want to create a new profile and try again? Please follow the instructions on how to create a new profile.
Not sure how I can help further as I don't have the device by hand. Only thing that I can share is that the MTP device works ok with my local debug build from the trunk code.
alfred replied on November 24, 2009 01:56 to the question "Rating, coverart" in Songbird:
Songbird does support writing rating to the file, but it's not on by default. You can enable it with the instructions. As for the album art(coverart), the write support is on already. So it should work without extra tweaking.
BTW, some updates/fixes have been made to the album art since 1.2.0. It's recommended to try the 1.4 branch build if possible. Build 1335 should be a good one for trying.
alfred replied on November 24, 2009 01:41 to the question "sansa e260 won't synch with Songbird 1.2" in Songbird:
ashiko, you might want to try an 1.4 branch build where MTP device support has been improved a lot (Some of the issues are related to the fact that MTP driver was updated in Windows 7 btw). Build 1335 could be a good choice.

alfred replied on November 23, 2009 04:45 to the problem "Lirc control addon not working on linux" in Songbird:
The addon writer is supposed to leave their name and email address in the install.rdf file. You can check as follow:
- Go to Tools->Add-ons
- Select the Lirc add-on and right click to bring up the context menu.
- Choose "About $addon_name"
If there is no answer from the add-on page. you might want to send email to him/her directly.

alfred replied on November 19, 2009 00:25 to the problem "Watching a folder causes startup crash every time!" in Songbird:
The reports don't give the detail information of the stack trace (function call). And I'm not quite familiar with MacOS :( Some other guys might be able to help. Or as a suggestion, there are a bunch of improvement for the watch folder feature in the 1.4 branch build. It's recommended to take the build 1332 if you're interested.
