I am not sure what version of Carousel you are running but with the newest version of Carousel you can create a template that has a video block in it. This way you can have a 16x9 zone with a template that has a 4x3 video block. You simply upload your video as a video clip (under media/video clips), then create a new template (or use an existing one) and add your video block from the "add block" area. After you add the video block, you will be able to select the video you want to run in that area.
I hope this helps!

If I understand you correctly, it sounds like you want one seamless image(background) for your channel with zones that display things like RSS, movies... If this is what you are after there is a video on my blog that talks about just that.
Visit: http://blog.trms.com/amber/creating_a...
We also have a service that will do this sort of thing for you. It's called Tightrope Creative. You can have your channel branded so it fits in with the look of your company. Just visit http://store.trms.com/
Hope that helps!

Amber replied on January 23, 2009 23:13 to the question "Use Photoshop to create background? Or use standard templates?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hello! Here is a quick step by step guide.
Sketch your layout on paper first (divide up your channel into zones).
Create a Photoshop file (with the correct aspect ratio of the entire monitor) and use the guides to help figure out exactly where those zones should be.
Design your background keeping in mind where those divisions will be.
Use your slice tool to chop up your larger image into smaller images (your zone backgrounds)
Save them as jpg's and have them ready to be uploaded into Carousel. You will have to upload each background into each zone.
If you are really having trouble check out the video on my blog. John posted the link above.....and if that doesn't help, there is always store.trms.com We now have a new service where we offer pre-made channels for Carousel. Check it out, we'd love to know what you think.

New templates and backgrounds have been created for Carousel. (10 of each I think) You will be happy to hear that almost every new template has the outline and shadow turned off.
Have you had a chance to check out store.trms.com? We now have a new service where you can buy pre-made channels! Check it out.
