Ben reported a problem in Delicious Monster on June 21, 2009 10:28:
Crash after adding items (Snow Leopard?)After adding an item to my library (via the add dialog, not the scanner), the item is successfully added, the main view changes to show the item in the righthand pane, and the name is spoken. BUT at the same time an error dialog pops up with the following:
<coredata>
My choices are to submit a report or quit, and I can no longer interact with the application. After quitting and restarting the item I added is in the library. This is perfectly reproducible, which means my night of adding new books is going to take a few dozen restarts...
Note: I am running the WWDC seed of Snow Leopard, and unfortunately upgraded both my machines and cannot test my library/dl2 on Leopard. Please don't make me wait until Snow Leopard is released before fixing, I'd die without DL2!
Detailed report:

Ben replied on June 21, 2009 10:18 to the discussion "Recognizing Kindle books" in Delicious Monster:
I would love this! It'd be ideal if there could be a way to add a Kindle account to the app and have it keep things updated (via page scrape or something). It would also be important to me to allow books I own physical copies of to be differentiated from Kindle purchases (extra 'electronic' flag, or maybe the format column - an overlay on the icon would be cool).
Ben replied on January 10, 2009 23:04 to the problem "Seadragon Mobile fails to load content from my server" in Microsoft Live Labs:
I just tested this and it loads fine in the simulator but not on my device. It looks like the socket connect() fails when trying to open a socket to your server (IP 89.187.101.71) - it just times out. I've never seen this before, and since it's happening at such a low level I'm not sure there's anything I can do. Maybe some firewall/security setting killing things from Apple's network stack?

Ben replied on December 22, 2008 02:40 to the question "How do you enable slideshows with Photozoom collections?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
This is something that still isn't quite right yet, as PhotoZoom always publishes layout information even if the layout is the default. When Seadragon Mobile sees a collection with layout it disables slideshow, animations, and other dynamic things with the thought that if someone had taken the time to lay the images out in a pattern (like items placed on top of a map, etc) it wouldn't make sense to do those things.
I thought I had a hack in there that disabled loading of layout from PhotoZoom. Maybe it got switched back. Go to your your iPhone/iPod home screen -> Settings -> Seadragon and make sure 'Ignore Layout' is ON. Relaunch the app and you should see the Play button.
Hrm - thinking, this setting may only work if you added the PhotoZoom collection through the special PhotoZoom add entry, which is disabled in the build currently released. If so, you'll have to wait (hopefully not long) for an update I'm going to release that adds this easy way to add PhotoZoom content.
Sorry for the trouble!
Ben replied on December 17, 2008 02:45 to the question "Can I use my own images?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
The easiest way to get your images into the app is to upload them to Photosynth (http://photosynth.com) and then add your Photosynth username to the app with the '+' button on the main screen.
Seadragon is designed to pull images from over the network and can't yet load local images off the phone. Due to the often massive sizes of the original images (for example, most of the images included in the app are hundreds of MB or even GB) it's also not practical to download them.
Hope that helps!
Ben replied on December 16, 2008 21:02 to the question "Seadragon mobile will not work with my Flickr RSS" in Microsoft Live Labs:
Seadragon requires images to be processed before they can be loaded. If you'd like to get your Flickr images in, you can check out PhotoZoom (http://photozoom.mslivelabs.com) - it allows you to add a photo RSS feed that it'll then convert images from. You can then add these images to the Seadragon Mobile application. The way you do this is a bit tricky now, but there will be an update soon that makes this easier.

Ben replied on December 15, 2008 03:43 to the question "Easier than typing in Deep Zoom URL?" in Microsoft Live Labs:
You could build a feed, which you only have to enter once and then can keep updated with new content. Feed loading works with redirects so that you could tinyurl the feed URL. Note that the instructions on the livelabs site for building feeds (here) have an error - the MIME types should be text/xml instead of application/xml. I'll be writing a tutorial with better instructions soon.
The update that will be coming out sometime this week supports redirects for DeepZoom content (so you can tinyurl the path). The currently released version doesn't work with this.
Thanks for the feedback!

The app will only fetch a feed automatically every ~30 minutes. Did you try hitting the refresh button? – Ben, on December 15, 2008 03:00

Enter it exactly as shown but replace {YOUR USERNAME} with your user name. For example, http://photozoom.mslivelabs.com/API/AlbumListFeed.ashx?alias=iofthetiger – Ben, on December 15, 2008 02:05
Ben replied on December 14, 2008 22:24 to the problem "Can't use PhotoZoom content with Seadragon Mobile iPhone app." in Microsoft Live Labs:
Due to a last minute bug in the PhotoZoom service the feature was pulled, but since the app was submitted to Apple the bug has been fixed. We'll be submitting a new version to Apple in a day or two that will re-enable the feature.
If you want to try it now, though, the functionality exists but is a bit hard to get to. Hit '+' on the main screen and select 'RSS Feed'. Enter the following url:
http://photozoom.mslivelabs.com/API/AlbumListFeed.ashx?alias={YOUR USERNAME}
Your stuff should then show up on the main screen. Or, you can wait until the nice easy way gets pushed out in a week or so :)
