Be A Tweeter Greeter =DI always look to see if new followers are also new to Twitter. If they are I invite them to come visit me and offer to show them how to get the most out of twitter, and find their way around.
When they first come to my area code, I encourage them to tweet, by asking some simple non threatening questions. As they begin to tweet, they will also see things they do not understand. i take the time to explain in such a way that they do not feel silly or singled out. If i sense they are a little uncomfortable about asking questions I will direct all messages through DM. That way everything is not for public viewing. I have made some strong bonds of friendship doing this. No one wants to appear as though they do not know their way around the twitter world. Whenever something new comes to me, that i was unaware of, I share it with everyone. If I don't know, then i assume there are plenty of people in the same boat. It shows others how sincere the people of twitter are. That to me is important. I am proud of twitter.

Twitter is not designed for the masses to respond. This is like you and I talking "hey, Michelle, what's up? What are you doing right now" Maybe I want to go shoe shopping and want to find out if you are free. With this I have to stop what I am doing, text, email, or track you down by phone. Maybe I can't find you. You might be outside with the dog. Anyway, it is a brief update of ....what you are doing. ie "I have to run pick up dinner. or out to drop off book back by 2. That's it. Brief and to the point. You invite your friends to join Twitter so you are all sort of Tweeting an update. Sometimes I just want to put a sledge hammer through something, so I Tweet out a frustration and I am fine. Or maybe i just discovered the cure for too many red bulls, and i know some people would love to hear. When you start skimming through the "EVERYONE" tweets your eye might catch something funny or of interest. So you follow that person. That person receives a note saying you are following. They will likely check YOU out and possibly follow you. As you build your friend and new friends follow list, the more people follow you. Twitter is not designed to address the masses, although if you have built up a follow list that is large you have a little mass. But, even with that there is no guarantee that someone following you will respond. I made a crack to a bird dog funny guy last night. He had a date and I didn't get a response for over an hour. My last comment (I was being a smart ---, he didn't even comment back. So you see, its like pen pals with strangers, and quick wit with friends. There are what is called "meetups". People that live near each other get together at a local pub. I was invited to one for tomorrow night. Maybe 9 or 10 folks, but, some of my Tweet companions. I have never met them, and maybe we won't have anything to say much in person. Some people do better when they are not confronted head on. But, I would thing if they plan to attend a meetup they like to chat it up. If getting yourself out to the masses is an important issue for you I have resources for plenty of web based sites. (Free and nearly free) If interactive response is what you are looking for you'll be more interested in a site that also lets you host a secation to blog. There are scads of different kinds of networks. I can be rather ditzy when it comes to the techy parts, but I will be happy to pass on all you want from me. Hope this helps. Follow me all you want. Send my direct messages if you don't want your biz gauked at by others. I will do anything I CAN TO HELP. -Linda (aka BluButterfly) lharrison.butterfly695@gmail.com
