John Fitzgerald shared an idea in Postbox, Inc. on June 26, 2009 15:58:
Reverse display order in conversation viewConversation view shows a thread by timestamp in descending order (newer messages above older messages).
When away from my computer for a couple of hours, or a couple of days, I will frequently see a number of correspondents weigh in on a discussion. When I go to catch up on the conversation, reading the messages in reverse order from how it happened is quite awkward.
Kindly add an option to sort a conversation in the order it happened in, so the end-user can read the conversation from top to bottom, so it reads naturally. Ideally it should start scrolled down to the first unread message if there are previously-read messages in the conversation.
To borrow from the age-old top-posting bugaboo:
A: Yes.
>Q: Are you sure?
> >A: Because it reverses the logical flow of conversation.
> >>Q: Why is top posting frowned upon?
My apologies if this is already possible and I'm just overlooking a bit of user interface. I looked, honest.
A comment on the problem "Order not delivered. Constantly being lied to" in Ashley Furniture Industries Inc.:
Finally took delivery on April 24th. The coffee table and end table are lovely, nicely constructed, exactly what we had ordered. – John Fitzgerald, on April 29, 2009 00:16

Just got a call this morning bumping my delivery from April 10th to the 17th. The person on the phone had nothing specific to say about why the delivery, originally estimated for February 17th, was going to be two months late. Read me something about working hard to improve the availability of trucks.-

They keep the colors on the maps nicely matched to all the signs in the Tokyo subway network, too. They also play different little "arriving at a station" tunes for each stop, which can help a dozing commuter remember that his stop is coming up. Lots of queues like this can help navigation and general ease-of-use.

John Fitzgerald replied on February 14, 2008 00:50 to the problem "Missing some WAP enabled Webmail fuctions" in Sonic.net:
There are quite a lot of functions available in the full interface that don't show in the WAP version. The idea is to make the most important functions available on your mobile device with as little additional clutter from more tools as can be managed. E.g. not being able to add an address could really put you in a tight spot, whereas removing an address is something that can be delayed without jeopardizing too much. That's the rationale, at least.
I've put this in for further review by the support supervisors; we don't want to be rigid about this kind of thing.

Looks like there was a blockage in the meter's funnel (it doesn't operate off a tipper as I implied earlier). I've got a report from this morning saying it's been cleared. Of course, today was a nice little break from the storms, so there's just one big spike to show for it at http://weather.sonic.net/ at the moment.
