Casey Greene replied on August 05, 2008 22:59 to the question "What happened to the ability to name a link?" in PBwiki:
Hi there Alsancle,
What you should do is type the text you want the link to say, highlight it, and then create the link.
I'm sorry that it's changed without a proper explanation. You can find more information about links at http://newfaq20.pbwiki.com/Links
Best of luck!

Hi there,
Removing or collapsing the comment section is a current feature request - I don't know when it will be implemented.
The right panel can be collapsed, but not in a way that will be seen by every user. There are user-created functions that are able to hide the modules on the right panel, but they won't make it any thinner, it will still be there.
Casey Greene replied on August 05, 2008 21:52 to the question "widget to change "front page" to "home"" in PBwiki:
Hi Pineywoods,
I think a widget that renames the FrontPage may have been developed on widget2.pbwiki.com
I did just have a user yesterday with this widget, and it was interfering with their ability to edit the page.
We will be releasing per-page Custom CSS/JS at some point soon, so you should be able to rename your FrontPage using that, instead of a widget.
I hope this helps!
Casey Greene replied on August 01, 2008 23:03 to the question "I edit successfully, but then going back it shows old info" in PBwiki:
It's possible someone un-did your changes by reverting the page to an earlier version. You can check this by going into the Page History (at the top of the page in a 2.0 wiki, at the very bottom in a 1.0 wiki), and seeing if there are later versions of the page that you have created.
If there are, you should discuss with the person who reverted the page, why they changed it. I find it's always better to be upfront with things than to sit on them :)
Best of luck!

Casey Greene replied on August 01, 2008 22:59 to the problem "Embed Code for Jing Sometimes Works, Sometimes Doesn't" in PBwiki:
Hi there,
There's two places here where you might be getting stuck. Let's see if I can troubleshoot them both:
1. Embedding your code. Are you using a plugin to insert the movie, or just pasting it into your wiki? If you're just pasting it in, try using an HTML or Google Gadget plugin to put the code in first.
2. Clicking preview leaves you hanging. This does make it sound like you're using a Plugin - Are you able to click through after you hit preview? The page may be trying to load the movie inside the preview, when you only really need it on the wiki page. Try clicking "OK," even if the plugin seems to be timed out.
If neither of these things make it work, click the "Help" link on your wiki, and shoot Support an email.
We'll be able to work out the problem with you over email, and then make sure we get the solution out to other users once we find it.
Best of luck!

Your wiki looks excellent! You can share it with others by submitting it to the PBwiki Directory - http://www.publicpbwikis.com/

Casey Greene replied on July 30, 2008 21:12 to the discussion "AUP What do you think?" in PBwiki:
Hi Sheri,
As a Support person, I've encountered some pretty crazy AUPs! It might be a little much for students in some age ranges to understand, and falls into the category of Terms of Service agreements, that most people don't read anyway :)
Perhaps a better way of getting to a positive end result would be to have a "Wiki Etiquette" page that all your students have to read, and sign that they agree to it in the comments, but can also ask you questions about it.
Maybe they can all help you write it at the beginning of each school year, so everyone's really on the same page!
I remember seeing a good example on Kristines' wiki - http://kristineedudemo.pbwiki.com/wik... - but this is geared more toward the Summer Camp wiki itself.
This one, on educators.pbwiki.com, has been used by several teachers, and may be closer to something your students would be able to follow: http://educators.pbwiki.com/Wiki+Etiq...
I'd love to hear thoughts from other educators on this topic as well!
Casey Greene replied on July 30, 2008 21:04 to the question "Why does video upload plugin fail after a few mbs upload?" in PBwiki:
Hi Richard,
the third party we use to host videos, fliqz, allows up to 300mb per video, so that may be part of the problem.
Also, uploading large files over http is generally not the most efficient way of doing things, and if you don't have a good internet connection, the process can fail.
I recommend looking into Google Video, or other similar services, to see if that would be a better fit for your video.
Best of luck!

Hi Moja,
We have a page from our old FAQ that describes how to add music to a 1.0 wiki. You can find that information here: http://newfaq.pbwiki.com/AddingMusic
Best of luck!
