We like the idea of weather forecasts, and it’s something we’ve considered incorporating. However, we have no immediate plans to include them as it's actually quite hard to do from a technical point of view.

Hi there. Thanks for your feedback.

The reason is that we use data from geonames.org, which uses local names (so - Mumbai) but in some common cases we've also linked up the English names to help people find them in Dopplr. For example, it used to be the case that you could only find Dublin by searching for its local place name, Baile Áha Cliath... a lot of people couldn't find it that way. So now you can search for either local or English name to find the correct destination.

It's a fix of sorts, but we know there are improvements to be made - and we're working on them as we speak.

Thanks very much for your feedback. We're aware of these issues and are looking to solve them in a release very soon now. Allowing people to manually add places is likely to be part of the solution - we want people to be able to define places in ways that suit them.

Thanks very much sharing your ideas. It's always good to know what people think of Dopplr and how they'd like to see it grow. Allowing people to offset their carbon footprint is something we'd like to do, and are looking into... it's not straightforward to do it properly, and we want to make sure we get it right!

You're right that there were those kind of invitations, but being able to group people by company doesn't exist in Dopplr at the moment. Are you suggesting something like the Linkedin 'connect to colleagues' feature?

Thanks for your feedback :) I think you're onto something there. I agree that we should explore how we represent these concepts of who you've shared with vs who's shared with you. Maybe a more combined view would work... definitely an idea to take to the drawing board!

I'm glad to hear that the page is working fine for you.

My estimate is that most people will have between 1 and 10 fellow travellers, so it's important that the page works really well for that scenario. But you're right to point out that it also needs to scale to 100+ - that's one of the problems we're coming across and will be looking to improve.

Hello!

My name's Celia, and I've joined Dopplr as the Community Design Manager.

We think the 'Manage Connections' page could be better. We have some ideas up our sleeves, but we'd like to know what you think of it, too. What's working for you, and what's not? Let us know what you think.
