Learn more Hadoop with Cloudera: Training in NYC and Bay Area

Hadoop Fans, we're happy to announce public training sessions in the Bay Area (January 18-20: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/51108... and NYC: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/51118....

Our 3 day training program is targeted at developers, and starts out with the basics, day two is all about hive, pig and data pipelines, and day 3 helps you understand more advanced apis and how to debug your mapreduce programs. For those already familiar with the basics, we offer an option for days 2 and 3 only.

Fern, shipping zookepper and hbase packages are also on the list, but it's harder for us to say exactly when. But we are working on it...

Bill and others, we are also working to more clearly tag packages as testing, stable, etc...

Hey Tim, we will be releasing packages based on 20 "soon" - we did indeed skip 19 due to some pretty serious stability issues.

Parmod, we are currently testing our 20 release, and will be making this available soon.

That said, we will continue to recommend our 18 release for production use until 20.2 or 20.3 is out. In general, while .0 releases bring lots of new features, it tends to take one or two minor releases to shake most of the bugs out.

We're working with the hbase team and hope to release compatible versions of cloudera + hbase for hadoop 0.20 and hbase 0.20. Stay tuned for more details. We hear you and are working hard to do this right (as opposed to quick and dirty).

Just a quick update. We have scheduled a registration fee increase for July 15th. It's $100 currently, and will go up to $150 on the 15th. We will continue to raise the fee as we get a better understanding of the actual costs, but are happy to provide a better deal to those who register early.
