I think the thing with conventions is that the hosts want to be friendly and you're going to have a lot of waste. Buffets are also easier and cheaper to set up.

While boxed lunches mean more waste and/or recycling, they also cut down on how much food you eat/waste.

one idea is to 'give back' to the host city (if we have time). Some of us bloggers should.

I can't wait to go ahead and register next week! I live in Denver and I was pretty bummed to see waste and the homeless during the DNC.
