Colin replied on November 24, 2009 19:21 to the problem "First time sync loses local bookmarks." in Xmarks:
Ugh, that's no good. We'll see if we can figure out what caused that in the first place, but in the mean time you can use our backup and restore feature to get your old set of bookmarks back. Details on how to do that are here: http://wiki.foxmarks.com/wiki/Product...
Hope this helps!

Colin replied on November 24, 2009 19:17 to the question "How can I import my old bookmarks from an old hd?" in Xmarks:
Unfortunately, no Xmarks won't be able to help you find your old bookmarks. If you have a bookmarks.html file from your old harddrive, you should be able to open the Bookmark Manager in Firefox, click the "Import and Backup" menu, then select "Import HTML..." Follow the directions to import from an HTML file and navigate to the saved file you have. That should load things for you!
Hope this helps,
Colin

Sorry you're unhappy with Xmarks for Firefox! It can be uninstalled like any other Firefox extension (details here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_F...).
Uninstalling Xmarks will not change your Firefox bookmarks.

I like this idea too, but it's not really how Xmarks currently works. The closest you can get to this is to use http://my.xmarks.com to access your bookmarks from your work computer.

What error do you see?
We've been running into an occasional issue with some users during the upgrade process. It's really, really annoying and I'm trying to track down the root issue. For now the easiest way to work around the issue is to re-download the old installer. When the new installer asks for the old one, point it to the file you just downloaded.
A couple of people have reported that this only works if you rename the old file to the exact same name that the installer is looking for. Like I said, it's really annoying. :) You can download the old installer here: https://static.xmarks.com/clients/ie/...
Hope this works!

A comment on the idea "Dealing with "Xmarks is already processing an action" errors" in Xmarks:
I've got a fix ready to go that should fix this. In the mean time you should be able to fix it by restarting Chrome, immediately going to the advanced Xmarks settings tab and manually starting a download. After the download syncing should work correctly. – Colin, on November 20, 2009 23:52
