curiousstranger asked a question in PostRank on April 15, 2009 02:58:
Feed page doesn't indicate subscribed statusIf I browse to an individual feeds page, (e.g. http://www.postrank.com/feed/...) there is no indication as to whether I already have a subscription to that feed. This has caused me, more than once in only a few days, to end up with duplicate subscriptions. The same behavior occurs in topic lists other than my own. Is there a reason for this behavior?

Are there plans to merge postrank.com and aiderss.com? The authentication c ookies don't appear to be sticking around for very long and the firefox extension doesn't appear to re-prompt for authentication, requiring me to manually go to aiderss.com and login in order to add subscriptions with the extension.

Can't log into aiderss.com, can log into postrank.comI appear to be unable to login through aiderss.com, but can through postrank.com. The problem is that the Firefox extension is generating URL's in aiderss.com for adding new subscriptions, and as I can't log in, I can't add new subscriptions. Any ideas? My login is aiderss@curiousstranger.org

I found the Perspectives extension (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~perspectives/f...) interferes with the Postrank extension in this exact way. Disabling it allows me to log in and authorize the application.

Uploads stallingBeing able to see a list of our shortened URL's, and perhaps some metrics around them would be extremely handy.

I've given up any hope of Flickr ever resolving their upload issues. Rather than throw out the money I've spent on Flickr and FlickrExport, I thought I'd make a request. Would it be possible to change the upload process so that local flickr metadata is filled out after each picture is successfully uploaded? Currently, it waits until the entire batch is uploaded to write the local metadata and because a batch is just about never successful, the metadata is never written. The only way I can successfully get the local metadata saved is to run FlickrExport for each individual picture.
This is the only hope for keeping Flickr and therefore FlickrExport useful to me.

This is fascinating: http://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-u...
A staff member "greased the queues" an hour or two ago, and I can now upload faster than ever with FlickrExport. Unfortunately, they seem to have a very limited amount of grease and only apply it when the screaming reaches a certain level. This is again looking to be a Flickr issue, although one I would hope you are concerned about, as it clearly impacts the usefulness of your software!

I've discovered another interesting item. FlickrExport is uploading the files to www.flickr.vip.mud.yahoo.com, which is resolving to an IP in the 68.142.192.0/18 subnet. When I look at Flickr's own standalone Uploadr, it is uploading to a different server (up.flickr.com, for me resolving to an IP in Yahoo's 209.191.64.0/18 subnet) after check in with the API in the 68.142.192.0/18 subnet. The flash uploader at http://www.flickr.com/photos/upload/ behaves the same way. I have much fewer problems with Flickr's own tools. Is the method used by Uploadr available to FlickrExport?

Any luck making progress on this? I've submitted the trace to Flickr support as well but have heard nothing back. I'm pretty close to having to move to SmugMug as I really don't have the time it takes to upload any significant number of images, not to mention the metadata syncing I have to do to get the Flickr ID's back in the Aperture database. Can I make a suggestion while we're on the subject? Syncing the Flickr information back to each picture as it is uploaded, would at least make this situation more tolerable. As it is, if a batch fails, none of the images - even those uploaded successfully - get tags added or Flickr metadata populated in Aperture.-
curiousstranger started following the idea "fireeagle integration" in Brightkite.
