A comment on the problem "RescueTime runs cpu at 100%" in RescueTime:
Thanks for the link to the older version! I installed it without any problem. Activity monitor shows that cpu usage is normal. When RescueTime launches, the cpu jumps to 100% for a few seconds then falls to normal/low levels. – Dan Butcher, on September 18, 2009 15:54
Dan Butcher reported a problem in RescueTime on September 18, 2009 01:34:
RescueTime runs cpu at 100%I noticed a few days ago that my computer fan was running all the time. I'm working on a PowerBook G4 running OS 10.5.8. Today I launched Activity monitor, and the cpu was at 100%, even after I closed all apps. I noticed that even after I quit RescueTime, it was still running as a process, so I quit that and the cpu immediately dropped to about 15%. As soon as I started RescueTime again, the cpu jumped to 100%, and again, as soon as I quit the process, cpu usage dropped.
I uninstalled RescueTime with AppDelete so that pref files, logs, etc were deleted. I downloaded RescueTime, installed it, and as soon as I launched the app, the cpu jumped to 100%, but no RescueTime icon appeared in the menubar, so there was no way for me to check preferences or do a debug. I tried restarting my laptop as well in between reinstalls of RescueTime, but that didn't make a difference. I tried the uninstall/reinstall a few times, always with the same result.
Other useful info: I was using the RescueTime version with the focus feature, and the cpu problem seemed to occur after I used the focus feature a few days ago. The version I downloaded and installed today was 2.1.0.657.-

Dan Butcher asked a question in The Infinite Kind on March 12, 2009 15:04:
budgets, categories, checking and credit card accounts--how do I make them work together?I'm setting up my accounts, and I'm trying to figure out how my checking account and credit card accounts interact for budgeting. I've discovered that a payment to AmEx in checking show up on my AmEx account when I choose the AmEX account as the category. So far so good.
But, I've got a budget category called "credit cards," and I want that AmEx payment to show up on the budget, but I can't assign multiple categories to a single transaction. How do I set this up?-

Dan Butcher asked a question in E2M on March 03, 2009 13:57:
Why do RTM tasks due today show up as due tomorrow in TooDo?I have a few recurring tasks in RTM that do not have specific times tied to them. They should just show up as due today. In TooDo, though, they always show up as due tomorrow. Is there a way around this without specifying a time for each task in RTM?

So you're saying that the to-do would never be complete, but the reminder could be set to recur at a set interval? For example, I could set a to-do that has a reminder to goes off at 3 pm every afternoon. For me, the tasks that require recurring reminders usually aren't the kind of thing that I need to mark off as complete--I just want to set a reminder.
If what I've explained here is what you have in mind, that would be great.
Dan Butcher asked a question in E2M on January 06, 2009 20:10:
reminders and recurring tasks in TooDoThe ability to set a variety of visual and audio reminders for tasks is a powerful feature in TooDo, but it seems that I can't set these for recurring tasks from RTM--or at least not make the reminder recurring.
Is there a way to do this, or will I have to create a reminder each morning for recurring tasks?
Dan Butcher replied on January 06, 2009 19:58 to the problem "RTM sync failure in v2.3.1" in E2M:
Yes, it all works now with multiple lists.
I played with the demo mode yesterday, and I was really impressed. TooDo is more powerful than I realized in terms of reminders. I'm going to have to play with it some more, but I already set up one to help me take some medication on schedule. Keep up the great work!
Dan Butcher replied on January 05, 2009 03:26 to the problem "RTM sync failure in v2.3.1" in E2M:
I cut down the sync lists to a single list with a single task. The task did sync from RTM to TooDo, but I got the same error message saying that sync did not occur. It was only when I went back into to TooDo that I saw the task there. However, TooDo kept crashing.
I did a hard reset, but that didn't make a difference, except that I started getting a message say that sync was in process (or something to that effect), even though it appeared that nothing was happening.
I then uninstalled TooDo and reinstalled. I got the RTM token, got the lists, chose one, and tried to sync. I then got this error message:
Activity TooDo: RTM Synchronization (in application TooDo) is not responding.
I had the option of force close or wait. I chose force close.
I then got the token again, and this time sync worked with the one list and one task. The task showed up in TooDo, I marked it as complete and synced it back to RTM.
I'm now going to try multiple lists and see what happens.
BTW, I really like the changes to the interface--fewer tabs at the top, etc. Also, I'm really glad you've added the option to save the db to the sd card.

RTM sync failure in v2.3.1I'm also having problems syncing with RTM in v2.3.1, but TooDo doesn't crash. I get this error message:
Problem while retrieving the tasks from RTM: have you been on the Credentials tab before using? Reason: null
Dan Butcher replied on December 16, 2008 14:52 to the question "RTM sync, tags, and smart lists" in E2M:
I find smart lists to be more useful in RTM than using the "regular" lists because tagging seems more flexible.
Ideally, I would like to see the smart lists synced like any other list, but I can see how that would be a challenge. It appears that smart list items are also mapped to an existing list in RTM (Inbox by default), so I'm basically asking for something to be assigned to multiple lists/categories in TooDo.
This would not be a make or break issue for me. It's more a matter of figuring out how to set up my use of RTM to integrate fully with TooDo. If that means I need to use lists instead of tags, then that's okay with me--but I'll be interested to see how others users respond.

RTM sync, tags, and smart listsI have been able to sync with RTM when I choose a list like Inbox; however, when I choose a smart list such as "work" (which is generated from all tasks tagged "work"), the smart list doesn't sync. Do I need to forget about tags and use only lists t make RTM work with TooDo?
