You will be very happy with the Compix SDI solution. Since you are SDI, the quality is excellent and you probably won't be disappointed. I broke apart my dual channel SDI Compix and put one card into another computer for the DSK. I have never had it go down, burp, hiccup, or otherwise even sneeze at me (outside of user error issues like bumping out the ethernet cable). Anyway, I might recommend pulling the card out of the ToGo box and just put it in a PCIx slot. I had one of the old analog ToGo boxes and got tired of issues with laptops, bios, etc. talking through the express card and just shoved it in an old computer. Just a thought. Let us know how you go ahead with your install as I'm considering getting another box for one of our venues and may use this as my DSK.

I might recommend MPEG Streamclip. Great price and works like a charm. It will see all of your installed codecs as well. – DShulkin, on September 24, 2009 17:37

You've hit the nail on the head. I think this is a great idea as I would love to improve our current dispositions process to take advantage of some of your ideas. In a number of conversations over the years (with TRMS) they have mentioned a desire to create easier access/reporting of the dispositions - specifically as it is accessed in the show record.
It would be great to have Cablecast track who, what, and when media/shows are processed in the system and where that media might be located.
Here is a screen shot of our small dispositions - and would love to use this tool more to leverage our growing library.

I assume you mean additional custom fields to the already eight provided in the show record. If so, this has been a feature request for a couple (or more) of years now. TRMS is aware of this request, but please continue to request as this is not the most critical of their development needs. For us this is a critical element to our reporting as we keep a separate database to fulfill our needs.
Our most recent workaround is to export a pdf page of our additional custom fields and attaching it to the managing files in the show record (I cannot remember if 4.1 has this option). Of course this requires lots of manual work and manual reporting, but we are getting through it.
Please keep requesting this feature as this would be a great addition!
