Paul,
We have 2 LG 42" LCD TVs that I had to a very similar problem with.
I was finally able to get into the service menu and turn off their hidden power save mode. You can't see it in the normal menus. It is only something that can be changed in the service menu. Right now, I don't have that procedure in front of me. But I did document it. There may be a chance it is the same for your models. You could also call LG. It took some pressure to get them to give me the info, but they finally did. We have not had any problems since. I think that setting is part of the Energy Star compliance. But not sure. Since our TVs are on from 8am to 10pm. We needed to get that figured out.
If you want me to try to dig out my documentation, let me know. It might be safer to call LG and get the specific info on your model numbers.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info guys. As I understand it, the SX server might be able to display a graphic image as well as video? If so, maybe there could be some sort of "trouble slate" image on the server that would display on that output instead of a black screen (no-rolling program). The logic would be built into the SX server's CM to check and if still not found, dislpay a trouble slate image or logo. Again, not sure if that is possible. Just throwing out there for discussion. :-)
Of course, we should never be in the situation where a show is not on the server when it is scheduled to play. But I can say from experience at 2 different channels, it DOES happen. :-( We are only human after all. We need Cablecast to be smarter than us I guess. ;-)
dslwizard shared an idea in Tightrope Media Systems on July 15, 2009 17:02:
Can Cablecast not switch to server if show is not found during send?Could there be a way for cablecast to re-check to see if a show that was previously not found on the server during a autopilot send is indeed there? As it works now, it does not do that and the router switches to the server channel but does not play it because it can't, as the file is still not there. The result is a black screen for the duration of the show TRT.
Not very good looking to the viewer. If cablecast just did a quick recheck of those shows it last found to not exist a few seconds before it is scheduled to air. It might be able to keep the router input on Carousel and put up a little message that says something.... not sure what that would be. But better than a black screen. ;-)
Just an idea.
Thanks

Any idea if this will be added to the coming release? Seems like a pretty easy thing to add that would make the report information more useful to the user. We sometimes send for weeks at a time and have several shows that are not on the server yet for various reasons and to have the list show the names as well as the show numbers, would be a GREAT help in keeping track of what still needs to be uploaded to the server for playback.
So it could say something like:
"Could not find a file that matches '29757-1 - City Council Meeting Replay 05-12-09'"
Using the record name after the show number.
Thanks

Ok. I guess if you are looking at different hardware, the original CBL-CGSDI box might not be an option we should purchase? – dslwizard, on May 11, 2009 17:25

John, Any word on this fix? We are considering purchasing 3 of these, but if they are not working correctly or are problematic, we might not. Please advise.

Randy,
Give Tightrope a call at their support line or submit a trouble ticket using their website www.trms.com/community. They are reponsive and will help get it working right. :-) Now that NAB is over, they might have more people at the office to answer your questions.

Ok I found out how that works on the Interweb...see the photo. I guess the box has the ability to input audio through the DVI cable but the actual source is from a 1/8" stereo plug on the computer side. So I guess that could be connected to a computer OR something like a radio tuner. Can someone from Tightrope confirm you ship this with that cable included?
Thanks
dslwizard replied on May 06, 2009 22:15 to the question "SDI output with CBL-CGSDI" in Tightrope Media Systems:
David,
I see this unit has the capability to send embedded audio out with the SDI video. From your experience with this unit, how does that work? Is it coming through the DVI cable? Is that even possible? Or maybe the USB via mac software? If we use this in our install, we hope to use embedded audio thoughout the facility and not have analog audio routing. So if we want say have a radio tuner to play along with the Carousel, how would we make that work with this product? I am thinking it can't be done via the way TRMS has it working on the Windows machine. I know we can use another outboard box to embedd the audio. Just trying to avoid the added hardware and complexity to the install.
Maybe the DVI digital spec has provisions for audio on the Mac? Anyone know?

Try this from Sorenson's website FAQ
Edit > Preferences > Behavior
Set Maximum Simultaneous Compressions to the Max it will go. (1.5 per processor/core)
http://www.sorensonmedia.com/forum/?a...
Search for "performance" or "CPU"
Alot of it depends on the speed of the processors and amount of RAM.
We encode using the same system you have. We have 3GB of RAM and dual 3.06Ghz Zeon CPUs. We can encode a 30min show in under 30minutes.
I tend to use CleanerXL for my MPEG2 content. But Squeeze is used as well in our other Avid suite.
Good Luck.

Thanks for making that change. You folks Rock! I will be using this in the very near future.
Thanks for listening and responding so well to your customers requests when they are valid and seem to be a easy change. I know some of my requests might be harder to make happen due to complexity in the change or I may be the only one wanting it to work a particular way. ;-)-

David,
Did you ever get the CBL-CGSDI? If so, how do you like it? Does the SDI ouput work as you hoped it would? Thanks
A question for Tightrope...... is the CBL-CGSDI still the most current way of getting SDI output from a Carousel unit? Looking for SDI output to work with SDI router during digital system upgrade. Is this just basiclly a add on option to a regular Carousel system? That is what it looks like.
Also, what SDI routers will cablecast control? A Sierra Video 16x16 SDI Lassen router by chance?
Thanks!
