Efe replied on June 01, 2009 10:40 to the question "paying twice for a service!" in Rebtel:
Chris,
First of all sorry to hear you charged so much by Orange.
Rebtel assigns local numbers in your country and your phone company shouldn't charge more than for a local call in the city you selected at signup.
However, the fact that you mention "when I got back to the UK" makes me think you used your phone while roaming outside UK.
Roaming is charged by phone operators (not Rebtel) for providing you service in a location that is different from the home location where the service was registered (UK).
To avoid being charged for roaming by your operator the best thing to do on arrival to another country is to purchase a local SIM card. Doing so allows you to make and receive calls via a provider in the country of destination, rather that your normal domestic provider. Make sure to choose a SIM card with the cheapest rates for calling local numbers in the country where you buy it.
This info is also on our Usage FAQ at http://www.rebtel.com/en/Get-Help/faq...
If your charges are not for roaming, then please do send us a copy of your phone bill so we can take a look at the charges.
Efe replied on June 01, 2009 09:28 to the question "Cannot contact." in Rebtel:
Falina,
Is it a message from your phone operator or Rebtel? Rebtel doesn't have any such message.
Could you please contact us at customerteam@rebtel.com so we can look into it?

A comment on the question "Can I have 2 phones active for my rebtel service?" in Rebtel:
Telma,
You can make calls from any of your registered phones in any country. However you can only receive Rebtel calls in the number you selected as the preferred one. – Efe, on May 28, 2009 15:04
Efe replied on May 28, 2009 15:01 to the question "multiple country usage" in Rebtel:
badboyadz,
Sorry for the late reply, I must have missed your post.
Yes. However, you'll need to buy a SIM card in the country you're visiting, and set it up as your preferred number for the service to work as it is intended. Rebtel doesn't handle roaming costs.
All your Rebtel numbers will change to local numbers in the country you're visiting. (When you get home, simply change your preferred phone again and your numbers will change back to local numbers in your home country again.)

Efe replied on May 28, 2009 11:02 to the question "How do I change area code for my Rebtel numbers?" in Rebtel:
Rocky,
To change the area code of your numbers log in, click on "Settings", then on "Manage phones" and click on "Change area code"
However, I see that you want to change the prefix in China. We are constantly working to add more numbers in more cities but at the moment we only have local numbers in Beijing.
