Emmy replied on December 01, 2009 23:02 to the question "Blog post with HTML code" in Yola:
Hi Katie,
You are making sense!
If you want to add HTML to your post you can, you can click the little HTML icon on the edit toolbar and paste in your code, then if you click the HTML icon again you will see how it renders in the plain text of the post.
However, if you are adding javascript, it will not work. So if it is javascript, this is why you are not seeing it rendering properly.
If this doesn't cover your question, can you tell us your url and we can have a look at the post with the code you have added.
Kind Regards,
Emmy
Emmy replied on December 01, 2009 22:44 to the question "Isuue with protecting pages" in Yola:
Hi Nick,
Are you still having this problem. Can you tell us more about what happens when you try to use the password protection? Is it that the password protection does not apply completely or will not remove, or does the site just load for a long time before it takes or removes.
Are there specific pages you are currently having trouble with? If you can give us the url and a bit more information about what is happening with the password protection on the page, such as, did you password protect the page and try to remove it etc.
Thanks,
Emmy
Emmy replied on December 01, 2009 22:30 to the question "Insert meta tags outside of yola" in Yola:
Hello,
The meta tags that you enter in Yola (in the Properties section) do go into the head section of the website. You are able to put in title, description and keywords meta tags.
Unfortunately there is not a way at this time to access the head section of the page code to put in those other meta tags.
I hope this helps,
Emmy
Emmy replied on December 01, 2009 22:05 to the question "Process for recovering a damaged site" in Yola:
Hello Randy,
The download site feature is there for people who would like to download their site and upload it to another server for hosting. So although you can download the site in zipped format, it cannot be uploaded back into the Site Builder.
This might, however, give you peace of mind as you will at least have a copy of the site.
Rest assured, thought, we certainly do multiple back ups of all our site data and we are in a position to restore all our customers sites simultaneously and quickly in the event of something unforseen going wrong.
Hope this information helps!

Emmy marked one of Boomer's replies in Yola as useful. Boomer replied to the question "Why can't I resize thumbnails?".
njoynlife's reply to "Why can't I resize thumbnails?" was just promoted to the most useful! Emmy and 3 other people think it's one of the best replies.
I don't think that I WOULD be upset if I were in your position at all Ms. Bartee. The employees here have been and always will be quite helpful to us ALL in reaching our goals. I have read back to find that each employee has responded to you with a large amount of respect despite your uncouth behavior.
I would like to state again, as Boomer said, that nothing changed when Synthasite became Yola, except the name. Improvements would be made regardless of the branding name of the site.
I have found that I had problems with picture editing due to updates of Mozilla. The problem isn't always one that Yola is responsible for but they still helped me as much as they possibly could. This really is a give and take community.
Applications such as picnik are just that, applications which Yola has no control over. If the picnik doesn't work for you, there are other applications that might serve you better but this is something that you should search for yourself, similar to finding the right car for you. Picnik is the loaner car to get you on the road and going.
Just as Yola isn't capable of controlling applications used to enhance the website building service they offer, they also can not control how large you decided to take your pictures in your camera. Learning to take the appropriate sized pictures prior to uploading them to your site, will help you in quite a few different ways and really is the most professional approach on your part.
So all "feeling" aside and back to being or becoming professionals; A program called Microsoft Office Picture Manager, in most newer computers, allows you to click on a multitude of pictures all at once and then re-size and compress them all at once for the best results on your web page. I have learned and am still trying to fix not compressing my pictures. It affects the load time as well as the security of sites built. Gimp is another program, which is free that will help you get this task done. Either way, you may have to spend a night learning but once you get that done, it will be worth the extra effort.

Emmy replied on November 29, 2009 00:35 to the question "Problem with menu on home page" in Yola:
Hi Randy,
Well, that is a strange one. My first reaction would be to delete the HTML widget on the home page, and copy the code from one of the other pages, and then re-add the widget to the home page with the code... but this is what you said you have done correct?
I am not the code expert here... If Kershnee or Sanja were here I bet one of them would know what was happening. I am thinking that there is some other code on the page changing the menu a bit, but I am not positive.
Can you give us the code that creates the menu here so we can test it. I would like to see how it behaves on a test site.

Hi Yola_User_A,
Ok, so I am jumping in a bit late on this thread, and I see you have been working with people via email as well.
Can you tell me just a couple of your urls that are still showing up. And, are the pages still showing as published, or is it just that he urls are showing up in the search engine. If the pages are still showing up in the search engine, that could be normal because of search engine caching.
If you can give me a few urls I would like to check this out.

Emmy replied on November 28, 2009 21:34 to the question "Publishing Problem" in Yola:
Hello,
I have taken a look at your domain's settings, I see that you have one A Record pointing to Yola and another pointing to: 213.175.221.80, this is why the site is not publishing.
Please make sure that your A Records point to Yola only. You need to make sure you have 2 A records set up, one with the hostname "www" and one with the hostname "@" or "*". Both A records should point to 208.75.208.172 - you should do this regardless of which domain you want as primary.
If you edit the other A Record to point towards our ip address this will solve the problem.
Hope this helps!

We can try to help you if you give us more information on what you are trying to do. Can you give us an example of another site that uses what you are wanting to use?

Emmy replied on November 28, 2009 21:13 to the question "Can I use a special kind of redirect or anchor link to send users to what I want them to see on my index page instead of them having to scroll down past these huge banners and these other spaces for titles/links etc. that are at the top of seemingly all of Yola's templates?" in Yola:
Hi Yola_User_A,
Are you wanting to create links that will take your site visitor to a specific place on the same page? Here is a link to more information on how to do this: Adding bookmark/anchor links. The redirect script would be for redirecting the person to another page, and would not work in the same page.
There are a few options if you would like a "blank" style. The following styles are plain white with background color/image options:
1. CleanSlate
2. BareNecessities
3. NoFrills
4. SqueakyClean
Hope this helps!

Are you just wanting to add an avatar image to your site, or was there something else you were wanting to do? Here is a link to some information on adding pictures: Adding pictures to my site.
Please let me know if that does not answer your question.
