Evan Hamilton set one of Evan Hamilton's replies as an official response to "A Browser that doesn't respect your preferences" in Flock
Evan Hamilton replied on October 27, 2009 17:53 to the problem "A Browser that doesn't respect your preferences" in Flock:
Hey Davi,
I'm really sorry to see that we've upset you. The option to not make Flock your default browser is within the "Custom Install" section of the installer...which can be easy to miss.
However, once you've made another browser default, Flock should not become default again unless you instruct it to do so. If you'd like to spend the time, I'd be happy to troubleshoot with you to try to figure out why your copy is misbehaving. I'll understand if you're over it though. Please know that this is not the intended functionality of Flock - we respect browser choice.

Evan Hamilton set one of Evan Hamilton's replies as an official response to "firefox 3.5" in Flock
Evan Hamilton replied on October 22, 2009 20:43 to the question "firefox 3.5" in Flock:
Hey anuraag.neo,
We're keeping a close eye on Firefox 3.5 and any reported issues with it. When we feel the code is solid enough to upgrade our community to it, we'll do so. Keep your eye on http://www.flock.com/blog for more info.
Thanks!

Evan Hamilton replied on October 21, 2009 21:09 to the idea "Stop changing my home page with each update." in Flock:
Hey Tim,
I can certainly understand how you'd find this frustrating and I don't believe Flock should do this. Do you know what versions your last update was from/to? Did you update via the automatic update we provide, or manually run the installer from Flock.com? When you experience this does your old homepage get totally removed, or is there simply an additional page added to when you start the browser or click Home?
Thanks,
Evan Hamilton

Hey Ryder,
I'm sorry to hear that you're upset...hopefully we can do something about that.
Can you explain what you mean by "having to update every other day"? Are you manually updating because you're running into issues, or are you getting automatic update notices?
As for your favorites, are these gone before or after you upgrade?
Lastly, do you know what version you upgraded from/to?
Thanks for the info, looking forward to trying to help solve this for you!

Hey folks,
Flock 2.5 features a Retweet option under the "Actions" menu on your friend cards in the People Sidebar. If you don't have 2.5 yet, you can get it now from www.flock.com!

Evan Hamilton replied on October 13, 2009 19:37 to the question "Extremely annoyed that you advertised Flock on my Facebook without my permission." in Flock:
Hey Sid,
I apologize: we did some investigation and we do provide a notification when you first install Flock. I can fully understand how this is confusing: you felt that you just installed a desktop program.
However, Flock uses the Facebook application framework to provide the rich functionality in the browser. This means that once you start using Flock, you've quite literally installed a Facebook application. By default, all Facebook applications stick a "Sid has installed X application" message on your Facebook profile.
So no underhanded spamming was intended - but I can absolutely see how it would be interpreted that way. This suggests it might be wise for us to provide some sort of notification that Flock is in fact a Facebook application in addition to a browser - so in the future people know what they're getting into.
I apologize that you felt taken-advantage-of...it is certainly not the intention of this team to do anything secretly to your Facebook profile (or any of your other services, for that matter) and we certainly need to re-examine our messaging to avoid this confusion in the future.
Please let me know if you need any other information or clarification - I'd be happy to provide it.

Hey Sid,
I'm really sorry to hear you're upset, and hopefully we can clear up what's going on.
Flock shouldn't literally advertise that you installed it, and absolutely does not post anything without your permission. However, Facebook does append "via Flock" to status posts from Flock (and the same for any other application you're posting statuses from). Is this what you experienced? If not, please let me know exactly what you saw so we can try to clear it up...again, Flock absolutely should not post things without your permission, and I want to understand what exactly happened on your end.
Thanks,

Evan Hamilton replied on October 12, 2009 18:56 to the idea "Notification area" in Flock:
Hey Angelica,
We don't have any pop-up notifications like Tweetdeck at this time, but it's potentially something we might add in the future. I'm going to change this post to an "idea" so that others can vote for this.
I personally found the Tweetdeck pop-up notifications too distracting. I'm curious: did you edit setting so they don't pop up too much? Do you have a better ability than me to stay productive while they're popping up? This might help us understand how we could provide this value.
Thanks!

Evan Hamilton replied on October 11, 2009 23:12 to the question "How to resize search bar,and when are you going to update to firefox 3.5?" in Flock:
As for resizing the search engine, you can try this: http://dragtotab.mozdev.org/resizesea...
I'm not sure if that'll work...I will also ask the developers tomorrow if there is a way to do this within Flock's advanced features.

Hey Habylab,
As much as we'd love to make your wish come true within a 24-hour period, I'm afraid that won't be the case. We're definitely keeping a close eye on Firefox 3.5 and we're not prepared to move to that codebase at this time - we want to ensure it will be a stable set of code to push to all you Flockstars out there, and we are concerned by reports of migration issues with 3.5. We'll keep monitoring it's status and get an update to you all as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!

Hey Ranu,
How many favorites approximately do you have? This *could* be the problem, and there is a way to test, but everyone has different definitions of a "lot". :)
Also, how long does Flock take to start? 15 seconds? 45 seconds? 5 minutes?
Thanks,

Hey Bluefoggyday,
I believe one of the posters re-installed and all was well, so it was marked as Solved. Looks like some folks are still having issues.
Can you clarify what you mean by "won't remember that I'm logged into Flickr"? You mean you'll get actively logged out, or when you restart the browser you'll no longer be logged in?

Evan Hamilton replied on September 24, 2009 18:12 to the problem "Cannot Enter Text in Reply Fields in Flock" in Flock:
Hey Christina,
I'm really glad to hear that you found a fix for the problem! However, I just wanted to clarify: Flock and Firefox do not interact in any way. Any changes made to Firefox will not do anything to Flock, and vice versa. I'm not quite sure why this issue occurred with your installation of Flock, but it's very unlikely that Firefox caused it.
Thanks so much for sharing your about:config fix though, that's super helpful for others who may have this issue!

Evan Hamilton replied on September 24, 2009 17:22 to the question "Twitter Feeds not pulling automatically" in Flock:
Hey Amanda,
Every so often the People Sidebar can get stuck...the easy fix is to close and reopen it. If that's not working for you, try this:
1. Log out of Twitter
2. Open the Accounts&Services Sidebar
3. "Forget" your Twitter account
4. Go to Tools>Options (Windows), Flock>Preferences (Mac) or File>Preferences (Linux)
5. Go to the Privacy tab
6. Click "Show Cookies"
7. Delete the twitter.com cookies
8. Restart Flock
Let me know if that gets things rolling again!
