Evan Hamilton replied on September 22, 2009 21:13 to the problem "sidebars no longer working" in Flock:
Hey therealtaryn,
My guess is that there is some corruption in your profile. Try the following steps to solve:
1. Back up your profile (http://flock.com/faq/show/64#q_61799)
2. Follow the "Reset your Odometer" steps at http://www.flock.com/tune-up
3. Also delete the "flock-data.sqlite" file in the same location
4. Restart your computer
Let me know if that works...if not, there's some other stuff we can try.

Hey therealtaryn,
So sorry to hear about the issue, that certainly shouldn't happen! If you could answer the following questions it will help me assist you better:
1. What version of Flock are you using?
2. Did you recently install a Flock update?
3. Do you have any extensions installed?
4. Around how long have you been using Flock?
Thanks,

Evan Hamilton replied on September 22, 2009 18:32 to the question "html 5" in Flock:
Hey GrokSurf,
We're certainly excited about the advances in HTML 5 and are looking forward to seeing it come unto it's own!
As we're built off of the same technology as Firefox, we do not make changes to the rendering engine in order to support new technologies. So we'll support HTML 5 around the same time Firefox does. I'm aware that Firefox 3.5 does support some HTML 5 tags and as soon as Flock is powered by Firefox 3.5, we'll have that same functionality.
Hope that answers your question!

Hey Ranu,
Flock certainly shouldn't be very slow on startup, and there are probably some things we can do to help. A couple questions for you first:
1. What version of Flock are you using?
2. What Operating System are you using?
3. Do you have any extensions installed?
4. How long have you had Flock installed?
Thanks, those'll help me help you! :)

@Ristof: I'm not quite following what you're frustrated with, can you provide more information? What news feed is doing what?
@Aristo: Unfortunately we don't currently support Windows Live. They don't make the necessary code available for us to integrate them in our product...hopefully they will someday!

Hey Chris,
Can you help me understand your frustration a bit better? Are you just irritated by the sidebar popping open? Do you feel your data is not safe if it's flowing through our sidebar? Or do you share the computer with multiple people and are worried about them accessing your account?
Let me know, that'll help me determine how to help you out!

Evan Hamilton replied on September 18, 2009 19:12 to the question "can i use flock source code to make my own browser" in Flock:
Hey chiafan,
Flock is open source under the General Public License (GPL), so you can download and modify our source code. The gist of the GPL is that you can make any changes but have to provide any changes back to us. Please read the GPL (in the license blocks in the source code) before making any changes, so you know what your responsibilities are.
We don't currently have source code available for the very latest release, but this is relatively recent: http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/flock/relea...

A comment on the idea "Yoono support" in Flock:
Hey RiRe,
The Firefox version of the Yoono extension should theoretically work fine in Flock. You can find it on Yoono's site or on addons.mozilla.org.

Evan Hamilton replied on September 16, 2009 19:25 to the problem "Flock 1.x oblivious to 2.x?" in Flock:
Hey Jeff,
You are correct - we don't have auto-updates from 1.x to 2.x turned on, because we encountered some issues with the auto-update process. Until we get these cleared up, we will have to keep the auto-updates off.
That said, there are no reported issues with manually upgrading - which you can do by downloading and running the installer from www.flock.com. Although there ar eno issues reported, it's always worth backing up your profile when performing a large upgrade. Instructions for backing up your profile are available at: http://flock.com/faq/show/64#q_61799
Sorry about the confusion! Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.

Hey Electra,
Sorry to hear about the issue. This doesn't sound like anything I've heard before, so there is clearly something up on your installation of Flock. We'll do our best to help, but I need some further information first:
1. What version of Flock are you using?
2. Do you have any extensions (also known as addons) installed?
3. Can you explain exactly what you were trying to do and how you went about doing it? Making a numbered list might help...I'm still trying to understand where the issue occurred.
Thanks,

A comment on the problem "Widgets gone and won't come back! Help!" in Flock:
Hey Jason,
I'm going to leave this post up and reply because you deserve some further explanation, but please refrain from using offensive language in further posts, however.
I am truly sorry that you lost your content, though it is possible that we can retrieve some to all of it through troubleshooting with you - I can't promise it, but if you do not work with us then there's not much I can do.
Unfortunately, we did not know about this issue before we turned on auto-updates. The issues you experienced only affected a small subset of Flock users who got these updates, which is why we could not detect them during our in-house QA. It's extremely unfortunate that it happened at all, and we quickly turned off auto-updates after the problem became apparent. You may have missed it, but we did have a long thread going about this issue. Most people were able to retrieve their favorites after following our instructions. We're very sorry the issue occurred and we've done everything we can to help out those affected by it. I can totally understand your frustration and I respect your decision to move to another browser. We do apologize for the irritation and inconvenience, and hope you luck with your next browser.

Jason - I'm sorry that you've had a bad experience with Flock. I'm sorry that you've chosen not to accept our help trying to solve it. But please do not behave negatively towards other forum members. Av3ry may have been a little rough in his delivery, but he was only trying to provide you with some advice as to how to stay safe on the internet.
Thank you for your consideration.

Evan Hamilton replied on September 09, 2009 19:54 to the problem "tattoodle" in Flock:
Hey Ian,
I'm not very familiar with Tattoodle, but the way you generally remove addons from Flock is to:
1. Go to Tools>Addons
2. Find Tattoodle in one of the tabs (presumably Extensions)
3. Click "Remove"
If that doesn't work, a quick Google search revealed this page that might help: http://www.fastbrowsersearch.com/FBS_...
Good luck!
