Hey folks,
Very sorry to hear about the issues, let's see what we can do to help you out!
@Carie: Do you have any extensions installed? Specifically Tabs Mix Plus? Try disabling them and restarting Flock - is the issue gone?
@gregj777: What version of Flock are you running? Do you have any extensions installed?

Evan Hamilton replied on August 26, 2009 18:41 to the question "What do you want?" in Flock:
Hey rockbrook,
Sorry to hear that you're frustrated. Let's see what we can do.
The update from 2.5 to 2.5.2 shouldn't take 30 minutes in general. Download times obviously vary depending on your connection, but you should only have been downloading about 30 megs. If you're on a slow connection, that could take 30 minutes, but for most high-speed connections it should only be a few.
If the actual update process itself (not including download) was slow, then you may be experiencing a bug.
Addons- I'm surprised to hear that all of your add-ons aren't compatible, especially if they were in 2.5. What I expect this means is either they are designed to only work in Firefox 3.5 and higher (we're currently using the Firefox 3.0 technology) or they have not been updated to work with Firefox 3.0.13 (which is the code powering Flock 2.5.2). I suspect it's the latter, but if you provide the names of the extensions perhaps we can glance at their addons.mozilla.org pages and try to figure out what's going on.
Cookies - you're saying they're deleted every time you finish a session with Flock? If so, try going to Options (Preferences on Mac) and to the Privacy tab and make sure cookies are set to keep until "they expire".
Slowness - I'm not sure if you're saying Flock 2.5.2 is slower, just as slow, or faster. Can you clarify?
Hopefully we can help you clear up all the issues you're experiencing!

Hey Matthew,
We're currently keeping an eye on FF 3.5 in the field...there are some reports of issues and we don't want to take on the epic task of moving to a version that may have significant issues. We're keeping a close eye on it and it's definitely under discussion here - we haven't forgotten. :)

Hey Seth,
Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm happy to hook you up with a Flockstar T-shirt for free...shoot your address and shirt size to my email address below.
We'd definitely like to eventually be able to have embeddable referral links...unfortunately, right now our system relies on Facebook for tracking, so that's not a possibility. Hopefully in the future...good to know that you're interested!

Hey Chris,
The error message you posted calls out "firefox.exe", so I don't think this is a Flock issue. I'd recommend you post about this on the Firefox support page: http://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla
Good luck!

@Jae: It's not a bad idea at all! If you're on Windows, there is something like this: press F11 and most of the UI will hide away. Unfortunately, this isn't something currently available for Mac.
@Tina: We'll reply to you on the thread you opened.

Paul,
You'll be happy to know that we released Flock 2.5.2 this week, which includes the latest Firefox 3.0.13 security patch.
Most addons work great in Flock, but some don't. Most programs work great on Windows XP, some don't. Such is life.
I apologize if you felt threatened by my final comments...however, posting as a corporation and making accusations about the quality of our product felt like an attack to me. I greatly appreciate you posting with your name this time. This forum is all about communication, and it's much easier to do if you know who you're talking to.
Have a great weekend,

Hey folks,
We just fixed this bug in 2.5.2. We're still testing auto-updates, but you can manually upgrade by going to http://www.flock.com and downloading and running the installer. It'll transfer all of your settings and should fix that notifications issue right up!

A comment on the update "2.5 Auto-Upgrade Causing Favorites/Bookmarks Loss - Solution" in Flock:
Hey Victoria,
Are you saying that your favorites were still available via the dropdown menu, but ceased being available after you installed the old version of Flock?
Thanks for the clarification,

Evan Hamilton replied on August 12, 2009 20:39 to the question "Auto Update Broken?" in Flock:
It's not a bad idea at all...I suppose the downside is that people are going to be grumpy about having to manually install an update (some people have dial-up, bandwidth caps, etc).
The somewhat-related solution I'd like to see is a messaging system in general built into the browser. We'd be able to tell you about new updates, which services are down, etc...without you having to come look for it. That's something I'm definitely pushing for in the new version.
