Totally agree, this is getting to the point of ridiculous. Here you've got such a great player that shows great design and care, and still, you can't properly bring your stuff in because of this tiny flaw. How couldn ́t this have been of any priority after 3 major releases? :(
I'm so eager to start using Songbird, stop teasing us!

Hm, good one, could have been it. Sadly, when I checked:
1. Status: POP is disabled
2. Status: IMAP is enabled
Though it does seem like something server side rather then client side now that I think about it.
Gotta add that I'm using Windows 7 atm, switched over using MozBackup. I think it started back then though I'm not all sure.
Does Thunderbird write in the Application and Services Log or keep one of it's own? (I couldn't find any) Perhaps that leads me to a clue.
FelixAkk reported a problem in Mozilla Messaging on June 01, 2009 18:43:
Disappearing new mails (well, sort of)Hi, sorry I gotta bother you guys with another problem. Love Thunderbird and Firefox, you guys at Mozilla are awesome :) Hope you can help me out with this. Tried to fix it myself but kind of ran out of ideas.
All new mails that I recieve appear for a short second, then disappear again, like they are passing by, one by one.
It's fairly specific and that's also why I can't think of anything on my system that would be causing it. It only happens on my gmail address, which uses IMAP, though I also have another IMAP email account, which doesn't have the problem, I also have a POP account, that one also doesn't has the problem. It doesn't happen in safe mode, but it's also not because of the add-ons/plug-ins. Because with all disabled it still happens. Another weird thing is that, though they don't stay in the Inbox, they do stay in the 'All Mail' folder, which you are apparently subscribed to by default when adding a Gmail address in Thunderbird (which kinda surprised me, why's that actually? I haven't got that on my WM PocketPC) not that it really annoys me. And in this case it might just give someone the clue what this problem is about.
I've followed the 'Disappearing email' topic in the knowledge base but in vain. Checked my settings, rebuilt the index, removed/added the account, checked if it had anything to do with the nature of the messages, or the senders, or the time. Also don't have a spam filter and also checked with virus scan off. Any ideas or suggestions more then welcome.

Just like here. Can't really migrate from Winamp to Songbird with this. For some reason Excorcist also don't really behave like it should be, can't seam to get to the bottom of the cause.
I think I've found a lead on what's causing some duplicates though. It seems Songbird is case sensitive when it comes to file paths. " D:\MP3s\song.mp3 " isn't the same as " d:\mp3s\song.mp " to Songbird. However, Winamp saves the pathnames in the exported playlists in lower case. Still that probably isn't the full cause because I've also got like 5 duplicates of the same song where like 3 have exactly the same pathnames.

A comment on the idea "Allow for language selection on install, don't automatically select the system default" in Songbird:
Join the club, exactly same here. Now I can understand the point of the developers to some degree. They want to make it easy for the average Joe, which is a good thing, and they did a decent job at it in my opinion. But there's also a significant user group that is used to installers asking for their language preference.
Perhaps there should be an 'Automatic language selection' check-box at the installation that is checked by default, but can be unchecked, so a drop-down menu becomes available where the user can select the language of preference. – Felix Akkermans, on January 08, 2009 00:37-
