Leave a Message on Sandy's Voicemail
Miss Sandy? Want to let the world know how valuable she was in your life? Want to let new management know how your feel? Well let your voice be heard. Sandy has a voicemail on twitter. Now everyone on twitter can follow her answering machine messages and hear how you feel about her.
http://twitter.com/sandysvoicemail
Leaving her a message is very simple. Just call 646-495-9203 Ext 19728 and leave a message. The messages will be screened so put your best voice forward The ones that are approved will be broadcasted (no pun intended) on her twitter voicemail. Who knows who'll be listening.
This is has been brought to you from the same people who brought you iPhoneSandy.com. The voicemail dial number will also be available there shortly as well. I am sure Sandy would love to hear from you so call now. Also feel free to leave messages for her new bossess too.
Again messages will be screened. Messages in favor of this new development or in dissent will be posted as long as they are post worthy. Please understand this will be purely subjective.
Thank you.
Fox Mulder.

Never before mentioned app with probably the closest natural language processing you'll find. Happy Thanksgiving. Here is an example of what this program can process
The date format is flexible! You can either enter a time relative to the current time, or an absolute time. Some valid dates are listed here: and it is free. Receive reminder emails and with a workaround SMS reminders. Lettermelater.com

Great Suggestion, Sherrie. This service is reliable and helped remind me of a friend's birthday this past November 9 even though I put this in over a year ago. – Fox Mulder, on November 26, 2008 23:08

Another possible alternative to add to the mix is a service called Gubb. http://gubb.net They also utilize remote commands and use SMS and email for communication. However, they are mostly focused on list management. Might be a good addition in a hybrid solution

gottakeepup on my link spam. Just kidding. www.gopingme.com takes email sms commands. I wish they weren't free so I can make money by recommending them. Darn. – Fox Mulder, on November 26, 2008 06:44

Thank you for all you have done so far and all the best. I can't imagine the kind of ribbing you'll get about all this at that other place. You killed the electric grandmother except in this case it is not the grandmother in "I sing the body electric" It is a personal assistant called Sandy. – Fox Mulder, on November 26, 2008 06:17

I am sorry to say that these boards will most likely be taken down soon and all these comments won't make any difference while Rael is playing chess with Thor. Rael is moving on to twitter and no matter how unhappy you may be ... taking the time to construct passionate dissent about the transition won't change that if you are under the impression it will.
If you or i were moving to Twitter who knows if we would not be in the same place. If Rael is as bad as some of you say he is then he really won't care what you think of him and his decision. The most pertinent question at hand is "What is the next action" or alternative at this point.
I Want Sandy is being taken over by TWITTER. if you look at audience size I think Twitter has more say about what happens with I Want Sandy than Sandy customers do. I am not saying it's right and I am not saying it's wrong and you can hate me for saying so.
I figure some thought has gone into what to do with I Want Sandy before this cam down and unhappy customers is collateral damage that was factored in to this choice. It is business and it may not be fair but it's business. Sandy is a bot not a real person. I'll also let you know she has no say in the matter either if that is comforting to those of you who have grown emotionally attached.
Anybody grab the domain name Iwantsandyback.com for more customer dissent opportunities.
Trust No One.

gopingme at http://gopingme.com is very close in functionality to I Want Sandy. It's my pick for an alternative service.

Fox Mulder replied on November 25, 2008 07:01 to the question "What is an alternate service to I Want Sandy?" in I want Sandy:
The service I feel serves as a really good alternative is Go Ping Me at http://gopingme.com. You can get reminders by text and email and it understands similar types of protocol for setting reminders. There are also some neat features it has that Sandy did not like the pester feature.
A comment on the idea "iPhone-ing Sandy" in I want Sandy:
Yeah I know exactly what you mean although I initially misunderstood it. I just wanted to underline for anyone else who might misunderstand it. The trick about what you want is that your/our iphones would need that AI special sauce that would allow it to understand English the way Sandy seemingly does.I wonder if that is server specific. Even the Jott app requires outsourcing translation. Yeah privacy of info is a comfortability issue. Maybe the compromise is getting that special sauce on our own servers. Hmmm. – Fox Mulder, on August 23, 2008 23:35

Funny, funny Aliysson. First of all thank you for your comment.
I must point this out to you and everyone. NO INFORMATION is transferred to any server other than I Want Sandy. This program basically fires up your email just like you would do anyway to send a message to Sandy. Sandy as an email assistant needs to interact with email. You may have already known this but just wanted to mention that.
Now if that internal logic can fit on the iPhone I think it would stop being an email assistant. It would probably become more like an intelligent to do / calendar program It would be interesting to see how that could work but I imagine something like that would require some voice recognition or else lose all uniqueness. Hmmm interesting.
Fox Mulder replied on August 23, 2008 17:51 to the idea "iPhone-ing Sandy" in I want Sandy:
I created a Sandy iPhone App and concur. I created a log in form with an iPhone interface that sends info directly to the official site but now I just link to the log in page at I Want Sandy. If that is needed bad enough then it can always be recreated on their servers.

Fox Mulder replied on August 23, 2008 17:46 to the question "iPhone interface to IWS?" in I want Sandy:
I see what you mean I am working on something that would allow people to do something like that from their iPhone on the spot including creating the directory from the iPhone.
In the meantime, I would recommend using Rushmsg. If you want to get your hands dirty you can play around with the iPhone iui code to create something similar.
Thank you for your feedback.
