Infovark 1.0.101 Update AvailableThis release fixes a couple of ick bugs that managed to squeeze under our quality bar:
- Saving new Powerpoint presentations, and a couple of other file types could sometimes cause Infovark to crash.
- Crawling Emails that came from another person within your organization could be problematic, if your exchange server was configured to send address details as a link to the Global Address Book. If you saw lots and lots of problems with your outlook crawler, this was probably the culprit. Should be fixed now.
If you'd like to pick up these changes, you can use the 'update infovark' link in your start menu - new users will be issued with the improved version, starting today.
As always, any problems, just let us know!
Gordon :)

Haha - Hey Terry - Great to hear from you!
Infovark doesn't work with TRIM - but there is a very extensible add-ins framework that lets people share content in Infovark with other systems, and update Infovark with content from other systems, too.
I had this cool idea for a plugin that would ensure that all the documents created on a users machine could be collected by Infovark, auto classified according to the summaries and tags that Infovark collected, and then stored into TRIM, and subsequent updates would be automatically posted without the user having to do anything... kind of like a really intelligent document queue.
...But I haven't got around to building that yet. Maybe in version 2 :)

Yep, that's by design. When we ran our beta, a lot of people were taken aback at infovark automatically grabbing their stuff without asking- and a few customers had so many documents that infovark was furiously trying to collect them all and was slowing users machines without their knowledge. So we thought it might be best to let people manually choose what they wanted to share.

Thanks Tong - great find, and thanks also for your workarounds.
We haven't done extensive testing with network proxy servers - this could indeed pose a problem for users behind the corporate firewall. We will endeavour to fix it as soon as we can - maybe an external infovark name resolution service might be the way to fix it. I'm guessing that the users ip adress will resolve just fine?
Gordon Taylor replied on July 30, 2009 02:06 to the question "Can't uninstall Infovark" in Infovark:
Of course!
Outvark uses the redemption helper to get data out of outlook, but it must register itself as a COM add-in - when the uninstall removed the redemption DLL, outlook ended up all cross because it has a pointer to a file that doesn't exist...
Great detective work Scott - Our apologies for having to put you through the wringer on that one - But on the upside, now we know! - I'll modify the uninstallaiton routine to uninstall the redemption add-in before removing the files.
If you've got some time available to catch up with us and discuss your experiences further, we'd love to talk to you!

Gordon Taylor replied on June 30, 2009 09:45 to the problem "The infovark Tools keeps appearing even after turned off." in Infovark:
That's weird! I just ran a couple of tests, and the toolbar seems to stay switched off on my machine - how are you composing a new mail? (In my tests, I just clicked on the New button in the toolbar)
Oh - unless you mean that the taskpane keeps appearing?
That's totally a bug - if you close it,(by clicking the X) it should stay closed!
I've added it to our list of things to fix! Sorry about the inconvenience!
Gordon Taylor replied on June 30, 2009 09:05 to the problem "The infovark outlook task pane does not re-size" in Infovark:
Hey Paula!
Yeah, that's a weird feature of outlook taskpanes - if you double click on the little grabby thing it will auto-minimize, and auto-maximize for you - but if you try and grab and resize using that thing, it doesn't seem to count!
Try re-sizing the task pane _anywhere else_ but on the grabby thing - as long as you have that little 'goes both ways' icon as your mouse pointer, it should resize just fine.
