Grayson replied on October 09, 2009 16:38 to the question "Can I save shows from external drive to the shows bin???" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Betho,
The Show Bin is used as a temporary storage place for your show records. It is used to aid in Scheduling and really doesn't have anything to do with the actual video files.
The Show Bin feature is described in more detail in sections 24.5.6 and 24.5.3 of the Cablecast manual (http://www.trms.com.s3.amazonaws.com/...).
Perhaps you are having problems with Cablecast recognizing video files on this external drive. You should be able to see these video files under 'Digital File Mgmt' (Autopilot, Digital File Management). If you do not see the files here then more than likely you do not have this external drives path configured as a playback source in Cablecast. Check out (http://gsfn.us/t/4wkh) this other topic as it covers configuration of an external drive with Cablecast.

Grayson replied on October 09, 2009 15:58 to the question "controlling the weather (just the bulletins)" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Lance,
You can edit the Weather Template just like any other template in Carousel. Take a look at the below screen shot. This will allow you to change the font size for that field.
You can access the full template editor by clicking on the 'edit template' icon (top right on the above screen shot. This will allow you to fully edit the template, including the Current Temperature text.
In regards to the 'outlook' field, your best bet would be to limit how much data goes into this field. This can be done by adjusting the 'outlook length' on your Weather bulletin
Carousel will scale the text to fit within in that 'outlook block'. So the less info you put in there the bigger the text will be.
Another option might be using the crawl to display your outlook information.

Tyler,
A good troubleshoot step would be to enable the standby graphic for your live video bulletin.
Now note if you see this graphic on screen or if you just black. Either way Tyler it would probably be best if you submitted a trouble ticket and had one of our techs work with you on this (http://www.trms.com/community).
Grayson replied on October 09, 2009 15:34 to the question "Can DSK Bug Text show constantly?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Jessica,
Bug Text is something that is tied to an individual run in your schedule (click on the details link on the far right of your schedule). Unfortunately, this is only something you can attach to a specific show run. If you are looking to display a message on top of your channel for a specific amount of time you should look at the DSK Crawl. The Crawl operates on its own independent schedule (or can be tied to a specific run).
If you are looking for more specifics on how to use the DSK function of Cablecast check out section 16.7 of the Cablecast Manual (http://www.trms.com.s3.amazonaws.com/...). .
Grayson replied on February 18, 2009 15:48 to the question "I just want a zone with minimal weather like a sun and temp." in Tightrope Media Systems:
Hi Jeff,
First off great question! This is an area that I wish more Carousel users would investigate. It sounds like you need to get familiar with the template editor. Nothing is set in stone with our weather template, you can alter information, backgrounds, font, color ect ect just as you can with any other template in Carousel. We do have a good training video that will walk you through the template editor <http://www.trms.com/community/trainin...>.
Also what version of Carousel are you running? In our latest 5.2.3 release we did update our dynamic templates and changed the default weather backgrounds (see screen shot of updated template)
I would also suggest looking at our demo site <http://demo.trms.com/> for some examples of different weather templates. If you are interested we do offer design packages for Carousel. Take a look at the 'Gov' channel from Tightrope Creative <http://store.trms.com/products/gov>. There are other channels as well but the weather template used for this channel seems very similar to what you are inquiring about.
Anyway, I could go on and on. The point I am trying to make is the weather template is completely customizable.

Grayson replied on January 12, 2009 16:24 to the question "Configure screen frozen on "Loading"" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Ryan,
I would suggest using a different machine to access the Carousel web interface from. By default the OS (2003 server) has a security setting enabled that prevents the 'Configure' screen from loading. If using the web UI direct from the server is needed I would suggest using the Firefox web browser or you can go into Add/Remove Windows components and remove the 'Internet Explorer enhanced security configuration.'
Hope this helps.

Grayson replied on January 09, 2009 16:23 to the question "New Frontdoor install deletes customer Information and validation key?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
Tom,
I did not realize you tried rolling back to an older version. That might explain why you lost your license. I have had this process cause me headaches in the past.
The 'CustomerInfo.dat' file is only used for the TRMS support tool. When you type your contact info into the support tool it saves that infomation to this file.
It might be best if we observe your next software update. That would allow us to troubleshoot this further.

Grayson replied on January 09, 2009 14:57 to the problem "Cannot access FrontDoor" in Tightrope Media Systems:
LCTV,
Does Front Door come up when accessing it directly from your Cablecast server? Open a web browser on your Cablecast server and type in 'localhost' as your URL. If you can access Front Door from here then the problem is most likely network related. Are you trying to access Front Door from outside your network? If so check the link you are using to log in (possilble IP change).
Hopefully this helps. Feel free to open a support ticket if you need assistence troubleshooting this problem. <http://www.trms.com/community>

Ray,
Glad to here Joe was able to help you out. I just posted the ports needed here <http://gsfn.us/t/plf>.

Grayson replied on January 09, 2009 14:49 to the question "What ports do my Streaming, VOD, and Cablecast servers use?" in Tightrope Media Systems:
It is best to assign static internal IP addresses for the Cablecast machines. These settings are for allowing the public to view your Stream, view on demand shows, view the built in Cablecast public site..
The public web siteand RSS schedules are all hosted on your Cablecast server. These features all use TCP 80.
By default the Stream Live server uses TCP 8080.
VOD servers will need TCP Ports 554 and 1755, along with UDP ports 1755 and 5005.
There are additional ports that Cablecast and Carousel use. See the 'TRMS Install Guide' (section 4.5) <http://www.trms.com.s3.amazonaws.com/...>.
