Hey Casey,
Just re-read this series of posts because the team has been talking ALOT lately about user engagement. You bring up a very very very important point that we neglected to realize. You are right in that we need to balance the game play structure so as to allow players to play missions internally in a much easier way.
As you are one of our top recruiters we really value your take of what we're trying to achieve.
Taking this entire series of posts with me to the team!

Hi Ryan,
We know how frustrating this is. :\ You want to connect with users in nearby and you can't. We want more than anything to find more ways to strengthen the community. Making local content more easily available (including being able to search for players in your area) is something we're currently considering for the next phase of our development.
Just curious, what other features would you want to see that you think would strengthen local communities?

Hi Mike,
We're glad you're a fan of Akoha. The best way to be notified of our going public is to put your name on our notification email list. It's super simple, just visit this page: [ http://akoha.com/notifyme/ ] type in your email address and hit subscribe.
As always, you can always RSS our blog or become a fan on the Akoha Facebook page. Lots of ways to keep in touch.
Take Care!

Hi Charlotte,
Hmmmm.........there isn't a reason why you photo isn't uploading. I've tried a few different things and it seems to be working as expected o our end. However this could be just a weird situation that is making uploading kind of "bugy". Please send the following to support[at]akoha[dot]com and we'll try and and figure out what's wrong.
a) username
b) photo to be uploaded
c) any more details (error msgs, screen shots etc...)
Thanks!

Hi DSaucke,
We fully encourage you to explore the possibilities for engaging the community to support your walk. Akohans are a very supportive bunch and wild missions can go a long way. Once you're created a new mission and have it approved. You can tweet it with #akohans as a hashtag or find something related to your cause.
Good Luck!

Harlene replied on August 06, 2009 16:08 to the problem "Mission IDs must be retrievable by the person who plays the mission until they are confirmed" in Akoha:
Hello Dr. Barnabus Peddingferd,
The reason why we don't make played mission ID's visible is to avoid confusion and as you mention possible abuse of ID codes.
In your case, your card along with your book are drifting along somewhere in the world and unfortunately not where you had anticipated. This i believe is the risk one takes when postal systems are part of the game. We cross our fingers and hope our gifts make it! :)
If the card eventually makes it to it's destination, canceling that mission would force you to have to send another card with a new ID. If the card makes it into the hands of someone unexpected, we hope that our users would still consider it as part of the journey of the card (though unintended).
For a replacement card, all you will have to do is go to Mission HQ, search for the same card type, and ADD it to our deck. Then you can re-print the card and start the process again!
Harlene replied on August 06, 2009 15:52 to the question "Is it possible to go back and add a story to a played mission card?" in Akoha:
Hi Dominik73,
We have since improved the "play details" part of the site. If you play a mission to someone without entering any details you should either, get an email with a link to follow, or next time you login to akoha you should see a confirm button on your "My Actions" area on your "Home Page". If one fo these two situations don't arise......come find us again here!

Harlene replied on August 06, 2009 15:44 to the question "Someone registering with a different email to the one you wrote" in Akoha:
Yes, it is still true in two specific cases.
If you play with a "guest" user (someone who can login but is not technically registered) they already have an email address associated with their account. So again, you may send it to another email address, but they will confirm it with the address associated to their akoha login.
If you play with someone who is new to the game, when they confirm a missions they will have to create a new account (guest or registered) and therefore have to put in an email address (of their choice).
Either way the missions will still get confirmed. :)
Sorry for the confusion surrounding this. Since there are so many ways to play, it can be difficult to explain. We're working on making this more obvious to both current users and first-time players.

Harlene replied on August 04, 2009 19:52 to the idea "New Tab Links" in Akoha:
Good Idea Tod. I know when i'm on Akoha myself, I like to have multiple windows open when your play but for now the only way would be for you to open new tabs manually. This is something that is part of a bigger conversation we're having at Akoha regarding the structure of the site. We're finding new ways everyday to make things better for our users.
