I have done everything mentioned above. Including uninstalling the currently installed version. Shut down, remove power card, 5 minutes. Re boot, installed newest version of Thunderbird. Still get the error message that a version of Thunderbird is currently running.

I have tried to test what is attempted to start, while monitoring activity in the Task Manager; trying to see if some duplicated .dll was trying to start. I could not see what might be the problem.

So far, I do not see an answer to this problem.
