Ian replied on October 12, 2009 22:24 to the question "Why still no ability add subfolders?" in PBwiki:
"Unless there are technical limitations with regard to adding sub-folders"
You've hit the nail on the head. There are a huge chunks of pbworks that assume a flat namespace for pages, folders, etc. Moving from that to nested folders is what we generally refer to as "not easy." Which must seem non-intuitive since other programs that have folders like Windows or Mac OS deal with nested folders easily.
I'd like to say that you're not alone, many people want this feature, on the team and in the community. What we really don't want to do is underestimate the amount of work this will take and make promises on a timeline we can't keep!
To pull back the curtain a bit we're overhauling how we model things like pages and files and folder in our system, which should be entirely invisible to you but when complete should improve the speed, scalability, and flexibility of the whole system. That last bit, flexibility, is what we need before taking on a project of the size of nested folders.
Thanks for sticking with us, there is strong support for this feature from many angles.

We're actively trying to track down why this is occurring. Would you submit this as a bug through the "Tell us what you think about PBwiki 2.0" link on your wiki?
If you mark it as a Major Bug I'll be able to contact you directly and we can work together to resolve this!
Looking forward to hearing from you

A couple of interesting work arounds here! Unfortunately as you've noted they are brittle solutions. (For example upcoming changes to some low-level plumbing will probably break Goliath's proposal.)
We really do understand the desire behind these solutions and we're working hard to create ones for PBwiki 2.0 which are robust, secure, and useable.
We love that our users are so determined and creative. Thanks for continually reminding us how important these log-in options are to the community.
While the official answer right now is "No" there's no supported way to do this in PBwiki 2.0, discussions like this one keep our feet to the fire.

Ian replied on April 01, 2008 00:48 to the question "Need individual RSS url for Folders" in PBwiki:
Hello there!
Things like per-page and per-folder RSS feeds are definitely things we are looking into. Sometimes you really only want to know about a section of a wiki, and especially for large wikis having tons of updates isn't all the useful.
Adding these features isn't a small task however so it may be a while before we get them in. The more people we hear from who'd like this feature however the more attention we'll give it, and the better excuse we'll have to make it a priority since we want it too!
So no promises as to when, but we agree they're a great idea.

Ian replied on March 25, 2008 19:04 to the question "Is Javascript supported in PBwiki 2.0?" in PBwiki:
CORRECTION
In 2.0 JavaScript is pretty aggressively removed from the page, even if it's put into the HTML plug-in. This is because of the significant security risks JavaScript presents for wikis.
So to be clear, JavaScript should not work on your 2.0 wiki if you paste it into the editor, source, or even the HTML plugin.
The only place that JavaScript should work in 2.0 is through the Custom HTML tool. This will add JavaScript such as analytics tools across all your wiki pages, however it doesn't allow for per-page JavaScript like widgets, forms etc.
Ian replied on March 13, 2008 23:50 to the question "Why do I get the message "access denied" when my students have been given writer permission?" in PBwiki:
Hi there,
This is usually caused by setting the Page Security to "Only let some people see or edit this page" instead of "Anyone on the wiki can see and edit this page."
As for the link to "All Pages," the "Delete" buttons may show up but they won't work for anyone who doesn't have at least "Editor" level permissions.
Thanks for testing PBwiki 2.0 Beta!

Ian replied on March 13, 2008 23:32 to the problem "Problem creating a wiki for evaluation." in PBwiki:
Hello there,
So it sounds like you have one account that you can't log into, and because your email is bouncing you can't reset your password. That is a rock and a hard place!
Probably the easiest way to get in and start evaluating a 2.0 wiki is to set up a new PBwiki account. To do that follow this link
https://secure.pbwiki.com/signup.wiki
1. Make sure you click "use a different email" if it tries to fill one in for you.
2. Choose an email that you know can receive mail!
3. Choose a password
4. Choose a name for your wiki
5. Check the box that says "Yes, please make this a PBwiki 2.0 test wiki"
6. Click the "Create my wiki" button
Now if all goes well, the email address you chose above will work and you should soon receive a link to your new PBwiki 2.0 Beta wiki.
