Karen, I have had this problem about 3 times since early June. While i couldn't sign sign in or receive mail via Thunderbird I was able to sign in & receive mail via Yahoo mail with the same password and with no problems. I originally used Outlook Express but was not able to get rid os scam emails so I switched to Thunderbird. Now I am considering of transferring back. One item I failed to mention as I was reviewing the Tools area I recall displaying "Edit Save Passwords" it showed my password as "dbbram%40@bellsouth.net". This is not my password nor is it my email address. I deleted it. But it is back again but I am able to use Thunderbird again. I have no idea what this problem is and I have discussed this with my son who is very knowledgeable with computers. He has no answer. I was thinking maybe it was a Bellsouth problem but since you don't use Bellsouth I don't know the answer. – Italo Rastelli, on October 28, 2009 17:57

I did nothing in my "settings/server settings. I already had the FULL email address in my User Name section. After being entirely frustrated after about 6 hours I left the computer. Came back in 2 hrs and did not have the problem. It is still working. I am a bellsouth.com customer.Is Sarah or Karen also a bellsouth customer? – Italo Rastelli, on October 28, 2009 16:15
