Hi Nick,

If you'd like to change what recs show on your page you can log into your Outbrain dashboard and select either "Limited Recommendations" or "No Recommendations." Limited will limit it to posts on your blog. No Recs turns them off and leaves the rater.

Another option is, if you're logged into Outbrain, you should see little red x's next to all the recs on your blog. If you see a link you don't like, you can click that x and the link won't be recommended on your blog anymore.

You should also know that we recommend content for reasons other than contextual relevancy -- it could be based on articles that you've read before or some other measure. That being said, the above steps should give you the ability to adjust what you want.

Our site is experiencing some slowness today (10/28/09). We're still serving normally but if you're trying to register or install from outbrain.com, you might have some difficulty.

The second part of your question first: the most popular widget takes age of the post into account. Most popular lists are sort of a feedback loop - once something is on the list, people visit it more and it gets even more popular. So we use the age of the post to keep the content in the most popular widget fresh.
