Jayce Haliwell reported a problem in Vuze, Inc on December 08, 2009 20:01:
You've killed your most promising underdeveloped feature! The new update killed off the friends feature. The main benefit that was touted was the ability to speed up downloads friends also were downloading. While this is an interesting plus, the friend feature has much more promise as an efficient way to share torrent files with others, instead of logging into another website(email or social network), copying a link, sending that link, and having your friend receive, open, read, click link, navigate page, then download file, and open with Vuze. One click sharing and download is much more efficient.
If there was a problem with the friends feature, it was that it wasn’t comprehensive enough, not that it wasn’t useful or needed. Perhaps adding elements that make sharing and discussion even simpler would boost the status of the friends feature. Don't cut and run.

Jayce Haliwell asked a question in Songbird on August 19, 2009 08:24:
Smart Folder(File Location) WatchI'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. My music is all stored on external hard drives. When a crash happens, or when I reconnect my external hard drive after disconnecting, the drive letter(s) changes(I plug and unplug a lot of USB devices). Every time this happens, I am forced to delete my library and rescan my music folders. In the process I lose all my stored data, including my play lists.
I believe it would be a great deal easier for a large percentage of users with large libraries, who are increasingly moving over to external drives for media storage, whether because of original HD size, more security, or backup purposes, if there were some sort of "SMART" folder watching feature or algorithm, that made a minimal drive-image of sorts, so that when the OS's drive letters change, a simple scan could be done(if most original files could not be located) to scan the computer for a matching drive where the files have been moved.
I'm assuming this could be done with several stages of inquiries to different drives/partitions, initially file systems, drive sizes, folder structures(even if drastic changes have occurred in folder structures, perhaps an algorithm for 'similar structures' that prompts the user to verify the location change.)
Something that guarantees a thing as superficial as a drive letter not destroy an entire library, and all it's play list links. I know this isn't a major new feature, but it would assist in reinforcing core features that give this player substantially more functionality and stability than most other MMSs out there.
What are everybody else's opinions on the subject?

CPU is 2.4, 2G RAM, XP SP2.
I imported my itunes library, but deleted it and just re imported everything from one folder (I've been cleaning up all my files/ID3s so everything done is in one folder) Library size is somewhere around 10,000 tracks, and is located on an external drive.
Freezes seem to happen most when the track is changing, when one song ends and the player is trying to move on to the next file. The program just suddenly becomes unresponsive. Right click-->close-->(popup)end task from from task bar does not work, have to go into TMs processes and hard kill it.
Also noticed mashtape hangs slightly... perhaps this has something to do with it? I have mashtape on more times than not.

Would Love A Queue FeatureI would love to see some sort of queue function(not playlists)... When you're flipping through your library and see a couple tracks you want to hear, but not at the expense of stopping the one your currently playing. Almost a temporary playlist.

Freezes several times an hour1.0 denotes a stable release but signs point otherwise... In the last 20 minutes alone SB has frozen and had to be manually killed through task manager several times. It's been happening since I've started using, and even with all of the awaited features not yet here I'd be using songbird nonstop(well, i do) If it had any sort of stability whatsoever... just felt like ranting because I just smashed my mouse after the 100th freeze.
My gut hurts from how much I want this to get great and soon, its like that word you have on the tip of your tongue that you just cant quite spit out.
Just glad that the one day i really needed it to work(my xmas party) it only froze once.
