JED replied on November 12, 2008 08:01 to the question "Are all Miro downloads via torrent?" in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro):
Using Miro - you select which feed you want to download from - so you can choose feeds that are html only. Files that are torrent downloads are noted w/ .torrent by the file type - so you can choose to avoid those.
As a side note - there is a large number of feeds that distribute legitimate content via BitTorrent. Here are some post that include examples of why great feeds like Democracy Now use it as well as the Norwegian Public Broadcaster.

I can only say that I'm improved how Ubuntu users forget that they still use Linux and post everywhere "Ubuntu version" instead of "Linux version" and so on.
Then I saw that this is marked as a question, while this is truely a feature request.
Homer Simpson would say: d'oh :/ !
I don't really care about tray icon, don't need everything in tray - this causes clutter.

A comment on the question "Miro only queue's 3 videos at a time" in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro):
I appreciate the security benefit of this default setting, but I've been unaware of this for months thinking it was a bug. Perhaps a video relating to this on the "Using Miro" channel would be warranted? – Viewer, on October 28, 2008 17:24
Katsushiro replied on October 27, 2008 19:29 to the question "Why do some Quicktime videos flicker in Miro but not in Quicktime?" in Participatory Culture Foundation (Miro):
I have similar problems playing Quicktime files, both in Miro and with the latest version of VLC. Seems to happen mostly with Large and HD Quicktime files. The files play flawlessly under the latest Quicktime player. VLC plays almost everything else fine, but big Quicktime files seem to freeze and stutter on VLC and Miro. :( I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that so many of the more popular feeds on Miro are Large or HD Quicktime, which kind of makes it impossible for me to use Miro for what it's designed for. A way to tell it to use Quicktime if installed to play Quicktime files would be a great addition/workaround to overcome this until the VLC developers can solve their hangups with large Quicktime files.

This is a known XP 64bit issue. It is fixed for 2.0 - so if you want you can try an unstable testing build from here: http://pculture.org/nightlies - and it should work.
