Announcing Carousel 5.2.5Today we’re excited to announce the release of Carousel 5.2.5!
This release contains several usability and stability improvements. Specifically, touching on the Clone Tool, Interactive, Display Engine, and the updating of RSS, web picture and clock bulletins. Check out the release notes for the nitty-gritty.

Release Notes for Carousel 5.2.5
Bug 3916: Zone with only Interactive bulletins would flash between two different bulletins
Improved the way we stop showing an Interactive bulletin for zones with multiple bulletins including Interactive ones.
Bug 3841: RSS bulletins are not updating after initial page creation
Caching of the RSS data now allows the pages to re-render if the RSS data did not change, but the template layout changed.
Bug 3875: Clone Tool errors on import, deletes CarouselDisplayEngine folder
Added support for larger than 4GB channels. Large channel packages now use a .csxl extension instead of .csl.
Bug 3833: Display engine error running video bulletins
Fixed an error where the Display Engine would crash after running certain Quicktime videos after a period of time.
Bug 3800: Clone tool "pauses"
Revised event handling in the Clone tool while creating and extracting channel packages.
Bug 3910: Live streaming video and Interactive did not adjust to a scheduled crawl
Interactive and Live Stream bulletins scale as expected when a Crawl zone is added or removed.
Bug 3900: Clock background changes do not update in a timely manner
Resolved an issue where the Display Engine's caching of files could cause clock backgrounds not to update.
Bug 3890: Web Snapshot blocks don't update consistently
Web snapshots would eventually stop working due to a "memory error".
Bug 3857: Display Engine locks up while interactive continues to run
Resolved an issue where Interactive bulletins could get stuck and cause the Display Engine to stop displaying other bulletins.
Bug 3714: Improve DE " Not Licensed " Verbage
Detailed information is provided in the Display Engine splash screen when additional licenses for Channels or Players are needed or servers cannot be contacted.
Bug 3913: Web picture block sometimes didn't update
Resolved an issue where moving or copying a bulletin with a web picture would cause it not to update in the future.
Bug 3881: Zone syncing for triptych display loses sync
Fixed an issue where zone synchronization could get confused when there were different bulletin counts on the synchronized zones.
Bug 3837: Clock bulletins do not resize when a crawl is added
Clock bulletins now scale as expected when a Crawl zone is added or removed.

Hello,
Obviously there is something is going on with the weather bulletins. However, we have not been able to recreate this behavior in-house. It would be very helpful if you could send us some of your weather data. The first thing we need to determine is the GUID of your weather bulletin. If you mouse over the Preview on the bulletin you will notice there is something like "Type=Page&ID=3660a74f-2076-4d50-8108-59943e4aa560" at the bottom of your browser, which is the GUID.

Then navigate to \TRMS\Web\Carousel\Media\Pages and locate the file with the same GUID.

Once you have located the folder with the same GUID, please zip the file and email it to bugs@trms.com.
Are you seeing this behavior intermittently and if so, how frequently?

Hello Megan,
Thank you for sending the additional information. With the roles that are assigned to this user, the "Event Schedule" button should not display on the menu as an option. To give the user access to the Event Schedule you need to create a new Role or add the Access Right to an existing Role, as shown in the screenshot.

I'm not able to recreate this scenario in-house in our latest build of Carousel 5.2.5-prerelease). I haven't gone back to test in 5.2.4 since if it was an issue, it has since been resolved.

Could you post a screenshot (or copy and paste) of the Roles assigned to the user in question and the Access Rights assigned to them. Also what version of Carousel and FrontDoor are you running?
Hopefully with a little more information we can get to the bottom of this, as I have not been able to recreate this scenario in-house.

Hello Liz,
I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with the RSS template not updating. Unfortunately, that scenario is a known bug and the solution will be released in the next version of Carousel. In the meantime, a workaround would be to change the URL (different, yet valid) and save the bulletin. Then go in and change the URL back to the desired feed. This situation forces an update.
I apologize for the inconvenience and I will update this thread when we release the next version of Carousel.

I'm sorry that I did not specify which URL I needed. I actually need the URL from where the actual picture is taken. In testing this issue I have found that when a web picture bulletin does not update, it is directly related to the URL no longer providing content. – Jennifer McCleary, on May 12, 2009 17:23
