John Grask replied on December 14, 2009 17:01 to the problem "Differentiating between funding sources" in SmartyPig:
@Chris,
Thank you for your question and we appreciate your feedback. In order to change the name of your funding source, you will need to re-enter it as a new funding source. This can be done by clicking “Manage” next to Funding Source. When entering your bank name please make the name distinguishable between your checking and savings account. Once you have done this, you will be able to edit your goal and assign the funding source of your choice to be your primary funding source. You may then delete your previous funding sources as long as you have no pending transactions from that funding source. To do this, select “Manage” next to your Funding Source. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at 888-567-6278, or at support(at)smartypig(dot)com. Thanks, John

John Grask replied on December 02, 2009 23:35 to the question "How is the gift card percentage calculated?" in SmartyPig:
@cwn6161,
Thank you for your questions. When you close to a retail gift card, SmartyPig is able to buy the card at a discount and pass the savings onto you. The percentage boost is different amongst retailers. There is no minimum length of time your goal can be open before redeeming it to a gift card. Having said that, you cannot close your goal until 4 business days after your most recent transaction has posted to your goal. Currently, you may only redeem a gift card for specific denominations which vary amongst retailers. Thanks, John

John Grask replied on November 18, 2009 23:56 to the question "How can I change the day of my monthly contribution debit?" in SmartyPig:
@bibi hutchings,
Yesterday we made several updrades to SmartyPig. We have now given our users the ability to contribute to their goals more frequently. You may now contribute monthly (same as before), twice monthly, every 14 days, or no contributions on a regular basis. As we made this improvement, we also changed the process on how to change your withdrawal date for each of your goals. Previously, the withdrawal date was attached to your funding source. It is now attached to your goal. Going forward if you would like to edit your withdrawal date, this can be done by clicking "Edit Goal", and adjusting the funding frequency for your goal.
To learn about the upgrades we have made please go to the link below.

John Grask replied on November 17, 2009 01:39 to the question "OFX" in SmartyPig:
@Tanushree Dinda,
Thank you for your questions and we are happy to hear your are enjoying our site. Currently, SmartyPig does not support Quicken. You can integrate with sites like Mint.com, Yodlee and Microsoft Money. Or download your transaction history in .xls or .csv format.
That said, we are looking at adding a Quicken download option within the next few months.
Thanks, John

@jenncolesf,
Thank you for checking back with us. Making this change is currently priority #1 at SmartyPig. As Mike Ferrari has indicated, we are going to make this improvement during the 4th quarter of this year, and we are on track to meet that goal. We will keep you posted as things develop. Thanks, John
John Grask replied on October 23, 2009 01:28 to the question "Can't get my money." in SmartyPig:
@homestar,
Thank you for contacting SmartyPig. You have contacted SmartyPig USA, not SmartyPig AU (they have a separate GetSatisfaction page), but I wanted to help you with your response so I have contacted ANZ in regards to your post.
ANZ said that they apologize that you have experienced this unique situation and do not have experience in resolving your particular issue. A resolution has now been met in moving the money back to your funding source via an alternative path.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience and are working to prevent this particular situation in the future.
Sincerely,
John Grask

John Grask replied on October 19, 2009 20:55 to the question "Does accrued interest count in goal being met?" in SmartyPig:
@Tommy,
Thank you for your question. Your automatic monthly contribution will continue to pull until your goal has been met. Interest accrued to this point that has not been paid will not factor into your goal being met. Interest is paid quarterly or at the time of closing a goal. You also have the ability to add money (up to $50,000 per day) to your goal so that you may reach your goal faster. Once your goal has been reached your monthly contributions will automatically stop. You may let your funds sit and continue to earn interest until you decide to close your goal. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the SmartyPig Customer Support Team at 888-567-6278, or at support(at)smartypig(dot)com. Thanks, John
John Grask replied on October 19, 2009 19:00 to the question "start again" in SmartyPig:
@stephen a esposito,
Thank you for your question. SmartyPig accounts are self managed and only the user is able to close their goal. Underneath your goal, you will have the option to “Stop Goal”. This can be done 4 business days after your most recent transaction has posted into your account. Once you close your goal, you will have the option to ACH your funds back to your original funding source which takes 2 business days. If you have any further questions in regards to your particular account, please email us directly at support(at)smartypig(dot)com, or call us at 888-567-6278, and we will be happy to assist you further. Thanks, John

John Grask replied on October 15, 2009 15:01 to the idea "Rewarding good savings habits." in SmartyPig:
@Charles,
Thank you for your suggestion. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to reward our customers. In the past, we have run promotions such as Twitter contests or our most recent youtube video contest where we gave out $5,000 in rewards. This is a great idea and we will definitely keep this in mind as we run future promotions and look for ways to reward our customer base. Please keep the great suggestions coming – we really enjoy hearing from you. Thanks, John
