Jon Shea replied on October 18, 2009 18:08 to the problem "ExpandDrive fails to install MacFUSE, and then refuses to run." in ExpanDrive:
Hi ckizer,
First off, all of your drives are stored in a file in ~/Library/Application Support/ExpanDrive/<your name="true">.Expandrives . You can copy this file to a new computer (and rename it if your username changed) and that will copy all of your drives.
I’m sorry for the trouble with MacFUSE. MacFUSE installs into system directories (/Library/Filesystems/fusefs) and sometimes system updates don’t play nicely. Usually when it doesn‘t work to simply reinstall it, then it will work if you manually uninstall it and then reinstall it. MacFUSE has a Preference Pane in the System Preferences menu that will uninstall it. Or, if you like the Terminal, you can run/Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/uninstall-macfuse-core.sh
There’s a chance that won’t do it either. Sometimes the MacFUSE installation gets so borked that the uninstaller doesn’t work right. In that case, and this has worked for pretty much everyone, you might need to manually obliterate a few key files. If you’ll cut and paste the code at this link into Terminal it should do it.

In the unlikely event that still doesn’t work, send us an email at support@expandrive.com and we’ll get things fixed somehow.</your>

We’re pretty sure that all of the “more than one connection” problems in Snow Leopard have been solved since ExpanDrive 2.0.5. You can download the latest ExpanDrive for Mac here:

ExpanDrive 2.0.5 is now out which fixes most know Snow Leopard issues. Sorry for the delay.
I’m not sure how the “fix” Brian linked to could help anyone. ExpanDrive doesn’t use anything related to sshfs, and as far as I can tell there’s nothing in the MacFUSE developer (beta) release that should effect us. But, if it worked for you, then I guess that’s good.

Jon Shea replied on August 21, 2009 17:56 to the problem "Error "This FTP server does not support ExpanDrive connections"" in ExpanDrive:
I hate to bring you bad news, but you really shouldn’t continue using ExpanDrive 2.0.2 with your FTP server. This issue is addressed in our faq which states:
This message means that your FTP server does not support the FTP REST command. This command is used to set the starting point for the data transfer commands (STOR and RETR), and we use it to implement random-access reads and writes. Unfortunately, ExpanDrive can not function correctly without the FTP REST command.
If you continue to use ExpanDrive 2.0.2 with your server it might appear to work correctly, but it also might fail unpredictable.
Jon Shea replied on August 10, 2009 12:34 to the question "Is it impossible to select either an implicit encryption or an explicit encryption in FTPS?" in ExpanDrive:
Koichi, as I mentioned earlier, ExpanDrive supports and should automatically use explicit FTPS encryption whenever the server supports it. Will you please send us an email at support@expandrive.com, and we’ll see if we can get to the bottom of what’s happening?

Jon Shea replied on August 05, 2009 20:31 to the question "Disks mounting on startup" in ExpanDrive:
Hi Dan,
ExpanDrive has two relevant settings. In the “Preferences’ window there’s a check box for “Start at login”, which will start ExpanDrive every time you log into your computer. Also, each drive has a check box labeled “Reconnect at Login”, which will make ExpanDrive connect to that server when you log into your computer. I’d guess this check box is set for the drives in question.
Jon Shea replied on August 05, 2009 19:36 to the problem "Can't create SFTP Remote Path with spaces" in ExpanDrive:
Unfortunately, we’re unable to reproduce your issue. None of us have any problem connecting to a server path with a space in it, or to /Volumes/Macintosh HD", which should work with the space just entered as a simple space.
I assume that you’re connecting to a computer running OS X, and that you’re sure the "Macintosh HD" volume is mounted? The only reason you should get that error message is if the remote path you’ve entered doesn't exist.
If you want to connect to the root directory of the server you could try just entering "/" as the remote path.
Jon Shea replied on July 27, 2009 02:48 to the problem "Cannot use Amazon S3" in ExpanDrive:
Antonio, just to make sure, are you using the Mac version of ExpanDrive? Because the Windows version does not yet support S3.
If you are using the Mac version, then something is amiss. Are you setting the “Remote Path” field in the drive configuration? If you do not set it, then ExpanDrive should connect and show you a directory with your bucket in it. If you do set it, make sure it is correctly set to your bucket name.
Jon Shea replied on July 23, 2009 05:04 to the question "Where's rename a drive funciton?" in ExpanDrive:
Jeff is right. We used to call it “Drive Name”, and when we did we had a lot more people asking us where they could edit it, so I think “Nickname” is an improvement, but it doesn’t really rock my world.
We’d like to keep the interface as simple and intuitive as possible, and I’m not sure exactly how we can improve this further, but I’d love further suggestions.

Jon Shea replied on July 22, 2009 02:22 to the problem "ExpanDrive does not show new remote files" in ExpanDrive:
ExpanDrive for Mac will update changes to remote files automatically within 5-10 seconds of changing, or any time an application opens handle to the file, or asks for the file’s meta data.
It may be the case that the Finder simply isn’t updating it’s file listing. The Finder usually updates when it gets a notification from the operating system that a file has changed. Since these files are changing on the server instead of on the local machine, and SFTP servers do not report file changes on their own, there’s no way the Finder can find out automatically that a file has changed over ExpanDrive. It has to ask.
Here’s a little utility you can run that is supposed to refresh a Finder window. If you give it a try, will you let us know if it works for you?
