A comment on the idea "Make Twitter friend requests easier" in Brightkite:
Hey Martin, I see where you're coming from. I think the problem with the bulk systems like facebook is that they use an opt-out method rather than an opt-in method. If you guys used a system with empty checkboxes rather than checked ones it would still make users think about the relationship more. You could also use some inline controls for the privacy settings that display if the user checks a friend. Twitters following section has a good example of inline relationship editing controls.
Thanks for considering my idea! Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss idea in greater detail. I would be glad to offer further suggestions! – Josh, on April 27, 2008 17:34
Josh shared an idea in Brightkite on April 27, 2008 04:53:
Make Twitter friend requests easierTwitter importing of friends takes a very long time. My suggestion as a UI professional, and frustrated user is to allow multiple friend requests at once. This could be done as a series of checkboxes next to each user.-
