Finn, Thanks so much for letting us know you are having some difficulty with your automated feed. We'd like your permission to look into this, but will need your account name to investigate. Would you be able to send that to us at the following email address - hohmpriv@microsoft.com? With your account name (Windows Live ID name) we can look at the specifics for you ASAP.

Jim W,
Thanks for raising the problem - can you tell me more about what you are trying to enter that it is not accepting so i can troubleshoot on our end? Perhaps you can give me a sample row of data that Hohm won't accept. Are you able to enter any data, or if is just the page itself that isn't working.

Karen replied on November 06, 2009 21:37 to the problem "manually entered data won't save" in Microsoft Hohm:
Maria, I just spent some time attempting to reproduce the behavior you encountered on the site. Once you enter a complete row of data, it should save automatically as you move the the next row. Changing pages or tabs should not impact the data you have entered. However, if you are only enter the cost, or just the consumption, it does not savie the data rows for you.
If you enter both usage and costs, everything will work - however, I agree we want to make this a better experience.
Thanks so much for raising this!

Karen replied on October 21, 2009 22:58 to the question "yet-another-post on options you are missing." in Microsoft Hohm:
Michael, Thanks for the feedback on additional options you would like to see supported. We certainly strive to support 100% of attributes for consumer homes - for the beta, we focused on the most common items. However, I completely agree that we need to support these items - specifically new greener home options.
I'll add these specifically to a list of hohm home options that need to be supported.

debrprovo, Thanks for the feedback and recommendation. Yes, we are looking at how to make this clearer (and cleaner) for customers if there is no current provider of automated data feeds in your part of the country. Customers can opt to add manual data (monthly statement info).
We have announced partnerships with 4 utility providers (Seattle City Light, Xcel Energy, Puget Sound Energy and Sacremento Municipal Utility District) and are working closely with many more to get increased coverage across the US.
Keep the feedback coming,

Karen replied on October 21, 2009 22:26 to the idea "Recommend LED lights instead of CFLs!" in Microsoft Hohm:
Thanks Pip for the recommendations and thanks mandy2743 for sharing a product recommendation with the community.
We are about to release an updated lighting calculator which takes into account LEDs, CFLs, fluorescent tubes and regular standard lights to give customers more accurate costing information. We also are looking at updating the lighting recommendation to account for LEDs.
Keep the feedback and suggestions coming!

Karen replied on September 18, 2009 17:18 to the question "Energy conservation @ Microsoft?" in Microsoft Hohm:
Edward, Thanks for your question! There’s a great deal of information http://www.microsoft.com/environment and http://www.microsoft.com/environment/... about how Microsoft saves (and helps our customers to save) energy and reduces our impact on the environment in other ways.
With regard to our team, we have all certainly learned a great deal about energy conservation approaches and I love your suggestion to share more about that - stay tuned for that through our blog in the future.
Kind regards,

Karen replied on September 11, 2009 22:12 to the idea "Re-arrange the home profile screen" in Microsoft Hohm:
Edward,
Thanks for the suggestion. We are definitely looking at better ways to organize and manage the collection of home profile information to make it more straighforward and friendly.
Would you want to move the sections around, the questions, or all of the above?

Karen replied on September 11, 2009 22:09 to the problem "Why can i not get the updated information?" in Microsoft Hohm:
Edward, The other cases where we have seen this error (in addition to the skylight issue) is when customers have set a very small square footage and multiple floors or levels.
You may want to try setting your home shape to "rectangle" and seeing if that makes an impact for you. Additionally, if your square footage per floor is unsually low, this might be a cause.
What do you have your # floors, shape and square footage set to in the home profile?
Thanks

Karen replied on September 08, 2009 21:03 to the problem "Electric provider name reported as invalid" in Microsoft Hohm:
We have loosened the validation on the entry of provider names so you should be able to enter "&" and other important characters.
Additionally, we are continuing to talk to many utility providers around the US. Stay tuned!
Thanks again for letting us know about the problem and for the feedback about your specific provider.
