Chris Karter asked a question in Get Satisfaction on June 24, 2009 13:57:
Can I have my users ask questions without having an account?I would like to make it so my users can ask a question in GS without registering for an account is this possible?
Chris Karter replied on May 15, 2009 13:41 to the question "Why are imported pictures blurry / fuzzy / impossible to read?" in Monarch Teaching Technologies:
Hi Pam!
When working with images there many things to know! One of them is that images all have a certain size to them, eg. 800x600. An image, can be small say an icon and you can import it, but VizZle will try to enlarge that image to fit into the tile of the lesson. Thus, it will become blurry or pixelated. The quality of the image is also important, ans sometimes this can be gauged by the actual file size eg. 560k.
I would recommend when looking for an image with a service like google images, to choose your image size from the drop downs, I would recommend medium at the lowest possible size. Also, I would try to find image in the filetypes of Jpg or Png, gifs can also often times be misleading and cause pixelation.

Chris Karter replied on April 28, 2009 20:45 to the question "Adobe Air is Damaged error message" in Monarch Teaching Technologies:
Sometimes this can come up if there is an old version of Adobe Flash player installed on someones computer or it is a bad install.
We recommend the following steps:
1.) Uninstall your current flash player:
Flash Uninstaller can be found here:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC...
2.) Restart computer
3.) Reinstall flash
The most recent version of the Flash installer can be found here:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
4.) Install Adobe Air
Adobe Air installer can be found here:
http://get.adobe.com/air/
5.) Now try downloading Vizzle

6.) If it still gives you that error after this, you can install Vizzle from here after the air is installed on your computer.

Chris Karter replied on April 20, 2009 14:39 to the question "Why can’t I open Pix2go boards or Schedule boards in the Library?" in Monarch Teaching Technologies:
Hi Gata,
It can be a little confusing; the preview button is grayed out because the way the software handles those types of boards.

Essentially when you are opening them to preview, you are actually Playing them. Since you cannot play a Pix2Go board or Schedule there is no way to open it from there. We are working on changing this so please stay tuned.
If you do wish to check out some of the Pix2Go lessons in the library there is a way to do this. Simply drag and drop the lessons to any of your folders.

Then click on the file Cabinet button at the top of the page.

Then find the lesson in the folder you dragged it to. From here you can Edit/Open the lesson.

Chris Karter replied on April 17, 2009 22:42 to the question "What are Distractors?" in Monarch Teaching Technologies:
In Matching Board you can set certain wrong answers to always display with a particular pair. (Wrong Answers are usually randomly selected from other pairs).
For the pair you want to set a wrong answer for, click the Add Distractor button at the bottom of the page.

If I had a question about planets and I wanted the moon to always show up as a wrong answer, I could simply drag a picture of the moon to the distractors field.

Now every time the board is played the picture of the moon will come up as one of the wrong answers for this pair.
Chris Karter replied on April 17, 2009 22:18 to the question "How do you add images to the Matching Board?" in Monarch Teaching Technologies:
At the top of every page is a search field where you can type in the name of a particular form of media.

If I was looking for pictures of different colors, I could simply type the word colors in the search field, and press enter.
On the left hand side numerous pictures of colors will populate.

Simply drag and drop the images to any of the tiles.
Chris Karter replied on April 17, 2009 18:22 to the question "What is a Lesson ID?" in Monarch Teaching Technologies:
Upon creating a lesson it is assigned a unique number. This number can be used to search for a specific file or help distinguish it from files with similar names. A larger number from one lesson ID to the other signifies a later creation date.

You can also search by lesson ID if you know the number!

Chris Karter replied on April 17, 2009 13:54 to the question "Trouble installing Vizzle, can't click button, can't see the button?" in Monarch Teaching Technologies:
Hi Gata!
Sometimes on a computer Flash can have problems when installed. I would recommend trying this:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC...
its a flash uninstaller. You'll need to match it to your current version of OSX.
Click on the the small apple in the top left corner of your main bar, then click on, "About this Mac" to find your correct version.
After you have downloaded the correct uninstaller and used it, I would recommend restarting.
Finally I would recommend redownloading flash from
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Let me know if this helps!

I checked with our developers and they are testing this out. However they need info about your computer to proceed.
Please include what operating system you are running etc.
You can find this out by (in XP) right clicking on my computer and selecting properties or (or vista) right click on Computer and select properties

In XP Please supply all the info under SYSTEM and Computer
