Katie Lips replied on October 31, 2009 14:37 to the question ""free" & "credit"- oxymoron! Will I be charged $?" in Treasuremytext:
Treasuremytext is a free service - we do not charge you to save your messages at Treasuremytext.
We do charge for outbound international SMS. We also offer all new members a few free credits enabling them to send some international SMS for free.
The only charges you pay are to send a SMS to our standard rate number (unless you're using the Phone or Android App in which case you don't pay anything to use the service.)
These charges are detailed on the homepage "Our service numbers are standard mobile numbers which work with most major networks worldwide. This means you're charged only your standard domestic or international rate to send your messages to our service. If you have a messaging plan that is inclusive of messages to the destination then it's free. If you're unsure about charges check with your network operator."

Hi there! We'd love to be able to have local numbers everywhere but right now it's a little tricky for us. Sorry, we haven't got plans for a NZ number in the near future.
We are working on apps - the most advanced right now is our Android App which works over the air - no need for forwarding by SMS (If you have an Android Phone).
Hope that helps, sorry about the lack of a NZ number!

Hi K, we'll look into your problem shortly and get back asap. However we might need more info from you to identify the problem.
Have you set up the app on your phone and signed up for an account at Treasuremytext.com? When you login at Treasuremytext.com do you see messages in your account? Have you configured the app on your android phone to forward specific messages only, or all messages?

Katie Lips reported a problem in Treasuremytext on June 07, 2009 17:11:
When is a UK number not a UK number? We're noticing a serious problem for some UK Treasuremytext users.
It seems that some networks charge users above the odds for texting our UK SMS number. Our number - a regular 07 number is a UK number, BUT it actually 'resides' in the Channel Islands. Some network operators class the Channel Islands as international even though they have the same +44 code and it looks like a UK number. Classing it as international enables them to charge 15-25p for every message that's sent to our regular UK number.
Some of our customers naturally think it's a standard UK number and assume it's covered in their SMS bundle. (We do warn people, but not everyone reads the *smallprint*, all the time). Some have gotten big bills when saving hundreds of SMS at Treasuremytext each month.
At Treasuremytext, we do not make any money from this nor do we have control over it. We use a reputable third party SMS gateway service who provides us with our numbers; it's the networks that have decided to profit from customers through exploiting this loop hole that the Channel Islands is somehow international.
We think this is pretty bad and want to lobby the networks to treat the Channel Islands with its UK +44 code as a regular UK +44 number.
We think it's normal for people not to be able to tell the difference between a UK +44 number and a 'international' +44 number. We think *everyone* thinks a +44 number is national and not international.
We think that telcos should not be allowed to charge differently for +44 numbers.
Therefore we think that the operators who chose to charge in this way are treating their customers really badly.
We think it sucks!
It's not just something that affects Treasuremytext users; people who use Twitter by SMS on these networks have also experienced similar issues. The following is a thread about the issue created by concerned Twitter users:
http://getsatisfaction.com/twitter/to...
What can we do about it?
Well, we can add better warnings for UK users when they sign up (in progress). We can complain to Ofcom and Watchdog. We can start a campaign.
We've set up a petition using Twitter. To sign - just follow us. http://www.twitter.com/44is44
We'll update progress on our complaints via that Twitter account. If you feel this practice by T-Mobile, Orange and 3 in the UK is unfair, please follow us on Twitter.

To add a café to Coffee Buzz you need to add it to Google Maps. We pull in data from Google Maps so if it's on Google Maps we show it in our listings.
If you own a coffee related business and you don't appear on Coffee Buzz, add yourself to Google Maps here: http://www.google.com/local/add/busin...
