Oh sorry, I should have mentioned, that's part of the problem. 'unread only' has been checked the whole time. Sometimes this feed will stop showing up in cover, digest etc when they're all read (sometimes not), but if I click on the feed in the dashboard the list of grey read items is there again, where the expected behaviour is for it to just say 'there are no unread articles left'.
Whatever it is must be connected with something that makes the flickr pool feed different from most feeds (I would guess that a flickr individual's feed would behave like the pool but I haven't tested that yet).
Keir Hardie asked a question in Feedly on September 01, 2009 20:13:
Flickr pool feed items won't stay away when read and hiddenThis is in addition to the issue of the 'mark all as read' button not working - even if I individually click the X on each item they come back next time I look at that feed, they are grey so feedly remembers that I've read them.-

Keir Hardie replied on July 16, 2009 12:44 to the question "Does Twitter ratio of followers vs. following really matter?" in Twitter:
No, it doesn't matter!
What really matters is that you're happy with the number of people you're following, that you're not overwhelmed by the number of tweets you get. If you feel you are following some people you don't really know who do a huge number of tweets that you don't really find interesting you might want to think about unfollowing some of them, but I think if either you find their tweets interesting or they don't tweet too often you might as well keep them. Sure, it makes you look more popular if you have more followers than you are following, but who wants to get hung up on that? At the moment I've got almost twice as many followers as I'm following (100 vs 53), but that's because I don't automatically follow everyone who follows me, and some of the people I follow tweet quite a lot, and that's the amount of tweets I want coming in. If those people didn't tweet so much I'd follow some more, and I wouldn't worry about my ratio. A low ratio could just mean you follow a lot of popular, interesting tweeters who don't follow back even 1% of their huge number of followers, rather than a lot of people who'll follow anyone back because they don't have many followers and want to keep hold of any they get.
Keir Hardie shared an idea in Zemanta on July 14, 2009 03:03:
Balance of picture subjects sometimes poorSometimes I will mention several things in my blog but nearly all the pictures will be to do with one thing/person/etc I've mentioned briefly in passing. It would be good if it was a bit smarter and didn't let one thing dominate the suggested pictures so much. Usually this is fine, it tends to be if I mention someone that's had a huge amount of coverage like a president that it's a problem.

Would be good if, as has been said, it was optional, and if it had the flexibility and intelligence that current products lack that stops me using them, mainly to avoid the various sorts of false positive, some of which have been mentioned already, such as:
Version 0.99 is available! But I have Version 0.100 which is newer.
A newer version is available! But not for my OS.
A newer version of a driver is available! But not for the hardware I have, just newer models.
A newer version has been used, but it's not really 'available'.
Also I should be able to tell it 'sure there's a newer version available, but it's no longer freeware, I don't want it'.
