Well, that was easy. For some reason, switching to OSS was an instant fix, which is odd because my sound was working perfectly in every other program I used.

Thanks much, and sorry for the newbie-sounding question. It's my first time back to linux in over a year.

Could not open audio device for playback
I've just recently installed Songbird 1.1.2 from GetDeb.net on a new Jaunty upgrade. I imported my music, installed a few plugins (iPod support, MediaFlow, LyricMaster, none of which I've used yet), but when I try to play any song, I receive this media core error: "Could not open audio device for playback."
