If you are using imap that might explain it.

The trick to delete a folder is to right click on it and select delete from the context menu.

You use what we call identities.
Tools -> Account right lower butto manage identities.

No - this is server dependant so you' ll need an exchange server to do that. And then you'll need to use Outlook and exchange's MAPI call, we do not support all of these. So that is no possible.

Yes it is. We call that identities.

Go to Tools -> Account Settings select your account , and on the lower right part click manage identities.

Can you start Thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) and tell us if it works in -safe-mode ?
When it happens can you open Tools -> Error console and scroll to the end of window that will open, copay and paste the last three messages ?

So I just tried that way :
1) go to Yahoo Mail
2) Click on your contacts
3) click on tools
4) Select export
5) Choose Thunderbird
6) Type the captcha
7) download the file

Read http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder this will tell you where your profile is. Inside the folder you'll find a prefs.js file. That folder might be hidden that's why you don't see it while searching.

The problem is in your profile , I'm pretty sure you still have a profile. If you didn't at each install you would need to re-enter your configuration settings.

in your profile there is a prefs.js file that needs cleaning up. Find that file and remove duplicate entries in it. – Ludovic Hirlimann, on December 16, 2009 08:19

You need to clean up your pref.js and remove duplicate entries for account in there. be cautious.
