A comment on the question "why does a new browser open when i click a button on desktop pandora?" in Pandora:
I assure you our developers are nice people. :) But we stopped supporting the old beta desktop app almost a year ago. We were never happy with it. So I doubt we'll re-launch any version of it. Sorry! -Lucia – Lucia, on December 21, 2009 23:30

Sorry about that!
Of course we never intend to offend or annoy our listeners. But we do have to air ads, to stay in business. So we have a fine line we have to try to walk. :)
All ads are temporary, of course. So the "Men of a Certain Age" ad won't be torturing you forever. ;)
The way to avoid ads completely is to upgrade to Pandora One, which has zero ads. Plus higher quality audio (on the web), desktop app, skins, longer listening times and no per-day limit on skips. That's $36 a year. http://pandora.com/pandora_one
If you want to continue to listen for free, I'm afraid you're stuck with the ads. Again, we do our best to air a variety of ads, ones that won't bother our listeners too much.
I hope you continue to enjoy the music, without too much emotional damage done from our ads!
Thanks,
:) Lucia

Lucia replied on December 15, 2009 20:54 to the question "Genre Shuffle?" in Pandora:
Hi Sean!
What you're seeing is that stations have "sets" of about 15 minutes. If you use QuickMix, our version of "shuffle," there are no sets. This should be a great solution for you.
I recommend editing QuickMix to include a few of your favorite stations. It will pull songs randomly from the stations you've chosen, giving you more variety from song to song. See what you think; you can change your QuickMix stations any time.
If you're listening on the web, you can find QuickMix at the bottom of your station menu, at the left-hand side of the music player.

Justin, you're absolutely right. We should have a "gift upgrade" option. Maybe we'll create that feature by your wife's next birthday! :)
In the meantime, for anyone whose computer you cannot sneak into, feel free to get them a $36. gift card / credit card to use on Pandora. :)

A comment on the question "why does a new browser open when i click a button on desktop pandora?" in Pandora:
A browser should open when you click on a song or album title, or an artist name.. that kind of thing. But a browser should not open if you click on 'pause', for example. If you're having problems with the Vista gadget, just send us an email and we'll troubleshoot with you. Support@pandora.com Thanks! – Lucia, on November 05, 2009 19:27

Wow, great question! And a noble goal. :)
Sadly, the answer currently is: no, there's not a way for a group to remotely give feedback to one station.
There's a variety of devices that play Pandora and have remote controls, but you'd have to spring for extra remotes, if they offer that...

I can imagine a few other social/work situations where this would be a cool feature to have! I'll bring it up to the team.
Thanks!

Hi Jennifer -
That definitely shouldn't be happening!
We just pushed out a new version of the BB app that fixes some bugs, so you might want to try installing that.
If that doesn't fix it, contact us at support@pandora.com and we'll troubleshoot with you!
Thanks,
