preferred playback format for digital files

What is the preferred format for digital file playback from sx4 4.8.2?
In the autopilot, force matrix, I tried a quicktime with h264 codec yesterday and mpeg 1 file with extension of .mpg today and got the following error "An error occured while forcing. Try again or check the system configuration.
could not determine the type of media contained in the file (mpeg, DV...)"

scratch the carousel version, we have version 5.2.4

I have video signal now on our testing.

we have a cablecast sx4 version 4.8.2 and a carousel cg 250 v 5.2.6
we are attempting to connect the carousel and the video server to our system.
following the sx setup guide, we are finished with setting up our playback and recording devices.
When we are attempting to test the system, all we are seeing is black on our preview monitor.

I've installed dvd import on two computers. One runs XP and one Vista. The XP runs with no problems. The vista does the same as Dakota Media-just shows the hourglass with no progress being made.

DVD Import software?

I'm looking on the disc that came with my SX4 for the dvdimport software, but I'm not seeing it. the only folders on my disc are:
Cablecast Control Modules
Documentation
Drivers
Carousel Media.

I've looked through the subfolders and didn't see it.

the graphics cards have been re-seated, but I'm still getting the same error. any other suggestions?

CG-250 Setup Problem

I got the unit hooked up and was about to set the IP addressing for the units when I ran into a problem. When you power the unit up it is giving a POST Beep Code Error 4 short and 2 long. I’ve called tightrope tech support and opened a case with them. Given the behavior its exhibiting (no power to keyboard, mouse or video output on the vga port) my guess is going to be a bad motherboard. Has anyone else run into this problem during setup?

Newbie to trms needs some answers

my company just purchased a cg 250 and a sx4. I have some questions that are probably very simple, but I need some answers.
first, do the cg250 and the sx4 connect directly together or do they interact thru ip addresses?
second, on the sx4-I'm planning to encode some live video sources (ie baseball games, local court tv, and local church services) and I'm wondering how to switch to and from these live events. Where I am confused about this is that none of these events start at a specific time nor do they end at a specific time.
