ola, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying using Primal Fusion. I also appreciate your offer to provide more details on how you might use our service.
It turns out that we've already been experimenting with Bing and Google internally. We may well release support for those two search tools at a future date.

Charles, I don't blame you for being confused. What you described not a good experience. We'll look into what happened. In the meantime, please feel free to leave feedback and ask questions here on GetSatisfaction. We welcome any and all input and we'll try to answer whatever you ask.
Thanks for taking the time to write here.

John, we appreciate your enthusiastic feedback. We're excited about thought networking too, for obvious reasons, and it's always good to hear from someone who shares that excitement. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the issues that you've encountered. We know that we have work to do, and hearing about the problems helps us. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Please keep the feedback coming if you have more to say.
Mark Connolly replied on September 17, 2009 00:54 to the problem "issue collecting & remembering secondary thoughts" in Primal Fusion:
John, I'm sorry that you had trouble remembering thoughts. We're trying to make it easy to express your thinking and the behaviour that you describe can certainly get in the way of that.
When a thought is remembered, Primal Fusion tries to organize it or put it in a place that makes sense. While the most obvious place would be the cloud that you're building, sometimes thoughts don't appear there the way that you'd expect them to. We're looking into ways that we can address this behaviour.
Mark Connolly replied on September 16, 2009 02:28 to the idea "Critique" in Primal Fusion:
Ken, I can't say that I disagree with you at this point — we clearly have more work to do and we continue to work on improvements. Thought networking is still new and we're still looking to improve the experience of expressing your thinking through Primal Fusion.
Speaking of soup, I'm reminded of the old story about the villager who makes a pot of stone soup, and finds that the contributions from everyone in the village (stock, vegetables, spices) makes the resulting soup a great success. In that spirit, is there anything that you'd like to suggest to move our soup closer to success? We're genuinely interested in what our community of users has to say.
Mark Connolly replied on September 16, 2009 02:17 to the question "How to avoid redundant content in the same thought bubble category?" in Primal Fusion:
@Pandora, it's not carelessness on your part. It's more of an issue with how Primal Fusion handles duplicates. We should do better.
What would your preference be in terms of handling this issue?
As for tips, my best recommendation for now is to look for duplicates and remove them prior to creating your site. I know that's not ideal!
Thanks for your continued feedback. We do appreciate hearing your comments.

Mark Connolly replied on September 10, 2009 02:27 to the question "Source Code" in Primal Fusion:
Thanks for the clarification, @viv. The selection behaviour that you describe is based on regular HTML checkboxes combined with CSS for the highlight effect and Javascript. It's pretty straightforward.
FWIW, we don't do everything ourselves from scratch. If you haven't seen it before, I highly recommend that you have a look at jQuery (http://jquery.com/), which is a great Javascript library that we use in our product. It provides a lot of robust functionality and even several ready-to-use UI widgets. For example, take a look at their 'Selectable' widget for another approach to selecting items.
Beyond jQuery there are many other similar offerings. I'm fond of YUI (http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/) myself and have enjoyed using it for a few years. It also has some great UI widgets, and is clearly and comprehensively documented with nice examples and tutorials.
I hope this helps.

Mark Connolly posted an update in Primal Fusion on August 30, 2009 15:36:
We want your help: improvements to Primal Fusion
We’ve received a lot of feedback from our community of Primal Fusion users since launching the closed alpha of our Thought Networking service last March. Some has come through our GetSatisfaction forum, some via email, and some through meeting with people. All of the feedback is greatly appreciated.
We’re working on improving our service, and we want to share with you all an initial look at some of our thinking on how we might make things better. We’ll try to show more in the coming weeks.
The image shows a rough screen layout of some of the changes that we’re considering.
One issue for many of you has been that there isn’t enough space to work with you thoughts. The proposed layout devotes more screen space to a ‘canvas’ of your own thoughts. Related thoughts are presented in a list on the right side of the screen to more visibly distinguish them from your thoughts.
We’re also looking at changes to the controls to make them clearer. For example, the proposed layout has large buttons to ‘Remember selected thoughts’ and ‘Forget selected thoughts’.
We’re still thinking about how to better handle content that helps illustrate your thinking.
We’re always interested in what you have to say about Primal Fusion. Do you have feedback about what we’re showing today? Anything we’ve missed? Anything that you like? Let us hear it!
Mark Connolly replied on August 27, 2009 22:39 to the problem "Unintuitive interface - What am I supposed to do? What is this button/link supposed to do? Why does nothing visibly happen when I click here?" in Primal Fusion:
@ag, we're aware that we have issues and are working on some enhancements to Primal Fusion to clarify how it works and what you should be doing. In fact, I'll try to share some preliminary designs here in the next day or so to provide some visibility into what we're thinking about.
In the meantime, can I ask you if you've watched the video of our presentation at DEMO09? If not, you may want to have a look as it may help clarify how Primal Fusion works right now. It's only about 6 minutes long.

Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate your taking the time to let us know that you're having problems with Primal Fusion, and I hope that you'll also provide feedback on our planned improvements.
Mark Connolly replied on July 28, 2009 13:22 to the praise "Barve and Fluid" in Primal Fusion:
Ed, I'm not quite sure what you mean by "a bin where I can discard stuff". Right now you can "forget" selected thoughts. Do you have something else in mind? Could you please clarify your thinking a little for me?
I like your "transmogrify/shake up" wording. It sounds like you're thinking of Primal Fusion as a brainstorming tool/partner. Is that right? What else would you like to see to help you with your thinking?
Thanks for the feedback. We appreciate hearing from people about how they're using, and would like to use, Primal Fusion.
Mark Connolly replied on July 21, 2009 21:13 to the idea "Drag and Drop Support" in Primal Fusion:
@samyem, I agree with you that drag & drop has a lot of appeal as a way of managing your thoughts. We'll certainly give your suggestion some consideration. Do you have any other ideas about how you would like to more effectively express your thoughts when working with Primal Fusion?
Thanks for the feedback.
Mark Connolly replied on June 02, 2009 15:06 to the problem "How can I change my e-mail address on my account?" in Primal Fusion:
Right now we don't provide a way for you to change the email address for your account through the product itself.
We do have a workaround if you'd like to change your email address. Please send an email to pfregistration@primalfusion.com, telling us your user name, current email address, and the email address that you want to use instead. We can then change it for you.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope this helps.
