There are two other paid file merge apps out there but I don't think they are worth the $30...

I don't think so, but if you install XCode, you can use the FileMerge tool.

I think there are probably other third-party synchronization apps that do this, too.

Does OSX allow for files or folders to be merged? Default is over-writing the files\folders recursively. Windows allows you to merge files\folders when dragging one folder over another.
